at now is
I searched the site for him. You are right. Crazy thing is only thing that he is looking Idaho, PSU & Northern Colorado. Good Luck to him whatever he decides...

"Tigard’s biggest remaining prospect is fullback/linebacker A.J. Hotchkins, who is weighing offers from Idaho, Northern Colorado and Portland State, and perhaps a few others. Hotchkins, who previously committed to Montana then backed out, was a first-team all-state linebacker this season." - Januaru 27th '14 via The Oregonian

Billings Gazette has an article about Shayne Cochran from Culbertson committing to the Griz. So, if he hasn't been officially added to the list, I suppose we can add another recruit. Going to be a lb for Montana.

That's at least two projected recruits to the linebacker position that were star running-backs for their respective high schools: Shayne Cochran (6'1" 210 lbs.) 1,580 rushing yards with 28 TDs for Culbertson High; Josh (Jon) Buss (6'3" 185 lbs.) 1,939 rushing yards with 25 TDs for Mountain View High in Meridian, Idaho.

With Wilson, Counts & Hagfors being juniors next season I don't suppose running-back to be open for incoming freshmen too much. Though I do recall at one time that a recruit came in as a projected defensive-back and was switched to running-back after joining the Griz and helped out quite well on offense with the name of Yohance Humphrey, so one never knows.

loa alamos, new mexico, not california.

I don't know how this is going to turn out but this looks like the worst recruiting class I have ever seen for the Griz, really disappointing. I would think we could do a lot better then this..... I hope I am wrong but not looking that way.

AlaskaGriz, just curious, and I hope you're honest when answering, how many of the Griz' current verbals have you seen play high school football and more than once? How many have you seen play multiple games live, from the stands or on the sidelines? I'm just curious how ANYONE outside of high school football coaches who either coach these kids or coach against them on a consistent basis is in ANY position to judge what really amounts to a list of names on a message board.

Nobody knows. And anyone saying this class sucks is pretty uniformed on the team. This class is coming together and there is a great combo of utility players and specialty players. Many of these line backers will be able to be studs on special teams, play lb or saftey. We are looking at a few big wr. 6 foot 4 is a big thing at the fcs level. We have a few good lineman coming in this class. A none super huge, but will be faster tackles and compete for centers. I few good DL prospects. What else do you all want. We don't need anymore qbs or rbs. Why sould we over commit scholarships to postions we are deep in for years. Lb types, wr, lineman were the targets of this class. Its been sucessful. Plus we will get walk ons which will fill up options at all postions. If you think its been bad recruiting year.... Look our roster.....look at some film and look at what these coaches are trying to build. I would now rate this class BtoB+.

Montana
Brody Haehlen
Clackamas 6'4" 250
Tight End Defensive End

420 yards and 11 TD's last season- the kid can play. Good hands and nice speed too. MIght gravitate to LB but an alluring pick as a TE or walk up DE! Look for Brody to Dominate this season! - NW Prep Report

Pretty sure Brody verbaled to UNC

Jordan Johnson (the Pacific NW sports writer, not the UM quarterback) reported mid-January that Brody indeed had committed to Northern Colorado...tried to find the story and/or a link, but couldn't.

From a previous post by Paytonlives: TO N. Colorado...
DE/TE- Brody Haehlen 6'5" 245 (Clackamas HS) Clackamas, OR (UNC)

You must evaluate high school football players or be a high school recruiting guru with your keen insight...I am also curious as to why you think the Griz could do better than you seem to think they are?

Perhaps it's because they've done better in the past?

This exactly the type of answer I knew would be posted. The past is old news and things are not the same due to a variety of factors.

Something to think about...pretty sure UM is recruiting the best kids they can and if they do not meet your and others standards, you should ask yourself why.

The correct answer is: If you think these recruits are good, imagine what a good HC with a touch of charisma could land.

I would like to give a big hand clap  to the young men who are about to join a very good football program and possibly make it better. Good luck and welcome to Griz Nation :thumb:

Purely speculation by you...they may or may not be better, just different
