Nice shot of WaGriz heading his twitter page - looks like he's not only verbally committed but has his heart committed to be a Griz

Great to have both but I'll take quality over quantity every time. And that's what we need in 2014 recruits.

Wait, outback steakhouse? Lol, omfg.

NDSU & Montana haven't been butting heads too much this year! Greg menard was it and he was at NDSU ESPN GAMEDAY & playoff game and frisco game, so that was easy to convince.

Keenan Curran reminds me a lot of another ex HS QB/WR/DB recruit (Trumaine Johnson)

I think I know what's #1 on my Grizmas List this year

“He’s (Keenan Curran) a ferocious hitter,” coach John Meagher said. “But the No. 1 thing about Keenan that I tell everybody is that he’s got great football instincts.”

Believe hes already committed to San Jose State.

Before egriz, I was like an expectant father before ultrasound: surprised by what the Griz get on the day LOI's arrive. Here, people act as though they have their own special peeks at the sonograms, but none of them really know how to read them. I'm going back to old times and will ignore these threads until LOI's are published by the coaching staff. then we can judge on reality, not hearsay.

Well, how boring would THAT be??

Quick question for all you recruting experts/fans. I know football pretty well, and i know track and field pretty well. If a kid says he runs a 4.5 40, and says he has a 37" vertical, how can they
possibly run an 11.8 100 meters and long jump 19.5" as a junior in high school ??? how dose that translate? Do the coaches ever actually check that stats some kids put on their profiles?

It's actually quite possible. Your vertical insinuates how explosive you are...the higher it is, typically the more explosive you are, or the more quick-twitch muscles you have. A high vertical would indicate a kid could have a fast 40 time.

Now to the track times/jumps. Long jump, believe it or not, is not always won by who can jump the highest, but who has the best technique. Technique is incredibly important...so it is possible that this supposed player has a 37" vertical and only long jump's 19.5". As for how the 40 time correlates to a 100 meter time...well, it doesn't. 40 time is all about technique and acceleration. If you're a quick starter but lack top-end speed, then you won't have the fastest 100 time, but could have a fast 40 time. For an example, when I ran track, I would run in the low 11's, which for Montana, was decently fast. However, my 40 time was only about a 4.8-4.9. Track wise, I was by far the fastest kid on our football team, however when it came to the 40, I was probably only in the top 5-10 for speed. I was a slow starter, but had good top-end speed. Other explanations are that hand times for 40's are wildly inaccurate, so he could really be anything from a 4.5 to a 4.75, realistically. And sometimes the kids just lie. Usually the film will tell you everything you need to know about them.

Hopefully that helps.

Thanks AZ, I had heard about the SJSU possibility. My comment wasn't about where he may go, it was just about loving the comment itself...I love ferocious hitters at safety that have great football instincts. Reminds me of my passion for the game.

6'2" WR Donovan Walker was in town this weekend too on a visit
Yeaaa seems like it was a pity visit. He has much bigger offers and has a pwo to cal. Wyoming, NM and others have offered him. He's a stud and better than fcs level

Looks like max Richmond is deciding between um and udub. We had an in home visit with him on the 21st 4 days after his visit here. He might be a steal if we cam snag him from udub. He's got good size and seems like a smart kid

PTGrizzly thanks for your reply. I would agree
With several of your assessments and you are
Absolutely correct when talking about slow twitch
Muscles and explosion, however I still find it extremely
Puzzling that a kid has 37" vert and can't long
Jump 20' which isn't even really a good HS jump
that 37" vert would be fantastic for elete
Players at the NFL combine, I can also tell you from
My track exsprience, anyone who is running a 4.5
40 should be an 11.3 or 11.4 100 meters at worst,
I guess my point is, I know a lot of schools recruit
And look at numbers,so it makes me feel like if
Kids are gonna put those numbers on a profile
Someone should be fact checking them.
Hate to see some other kid lose out on a schlorship
Opportunity because some coach falls for some VERY
Inflated strenght and speed numbers put on profiles
By players and parents. Go Griz

So do we know of any possible recruits at this time or are we at a wait and see?
Max and Dallas are the only two I think are really viable still on that known list. Other players with partials or pwo are out there but unless you know them they are too hard to know about.

Oh I don't think you'd need to worry about that. I can't imagine there are any coaches that would offer a player based off of the speed/strength numbers that he gives himself. Like I said, it's fairly easy to tell who is legitimately fast and who isn't based off of film.
