On a different note what would help us more then any kid we could recruit right now is to have out weak ass president file the paperwork to get our 4 schollies back.

Well since the scholarship reduction was our recommendation as were the vast majority of penalties, I really doubt we are going to see President Engstrom or the Athletic Department petitioning to the appeals committee to commute the sentence. There are a million reasons for this, but it is hard to go back and say to the NCAA "Hey we over penalized ourselves, and in the current specter of other punishments, we would like a do over."

I read through the NCAA appeals archives a couple months ago to see whether any school ever appealed self-imposed sanctions and how they did on appeal.
Yes, schools do appeal self-imposed sanctions, particularly scholarships. I could not find a single appeal were self-imposed scholarship losses were reversed or reduced..

I'll say I don't care about MSU recruiting, but this is a FCS Board and to me, signing Grant Collins is FCS news because he THAT good. In my opinion, this is MSU's biggest in-state get in YEARS. So congrats to them.

However, I will please ask MSU fans to refrain from the "We beat the Griz on Collins." It's simply not true. Montana offered him, but I think EVERYONE in the Griz' camp new UM had ZERO chance of landing him. He had ZERO interest in UM, so there's no need for the rivalry/trash talk on him cause he was NEVER EVER considering the Griz.

I'm learning that Scouts and Rivals don't even come close to telling our recruiting story. At this point, our front page list, outside confirmed verbals, may be completely wrong. There may be unreported verbals (to the Griz or to other schools), offers may have been pulled, etc.

Personally, I'm going to stop obsessively checking this thread and simply look forward to, hopefully, a few pleasant surprises on signing day!
