He said on twitter that Cal Poly offered and he deciding between living his dream of playing FBS football or getting the type of education Cal Poly offers.GrizNationaire said:HBoilers02 said:Read this week that Kai Ross (safety) is looking into Colorado State, UNLV, and Nevada. I have been hearing Kai has been getting a lot of looks and was offered a full ride to Colorado State. I haven't heard of offers from UNLV or Nevada, but wouldn't doubt it. Definitely a tuff decision for a young man to pass up an offer from an FBS school; however, here’s to hoping he stays with his current verbal...UM!!!! From what I hear he is good enough to come and play here at MT as a Freshman and possibly start. That could be a factor for him. Who knows, he could get lost in the shuffle at any of those schools and regret his decision if he switches. Four year starter at MT has to be enticing as well!!!
I am concerned with the number of verbals too. 7 right now with 2-3 of them wavering their decision... Say 3 decommit and we have 4. That means we have to try and get 9-10 verbals by signing day which is just over a month away. Coaches are busy but better get busierPost Falls Griz said:Last year was the first year I really followed UM recruiting so I'm still pretty new to how it works. I am wondering if anyone else is concerned by our two best verbals (in my opinion) are still looking around and it looks like it's just a matter of time before Ross de-commits. Losing Ross and/or Reese really hurts. It seems that we had quite a few more offers out there that were posted here last year. I'm sure the staff is recruiting more than what we know about but from what's posted, the cupboard seems pretty bare. It also makes me wonder what's going on that so many of the players that have verballed have de-committed. I might have it wrong but I believe we've had and could potentially lose 4-5 recruits. Mann, AJ Tigard (?), potentially Ross and Reese.... Seems like there was one more but I can't think of who that might have been. Is that normal? I realize a verbal is not binding and it really comes down to signing day. I am just concerned that this class doesn't seem to be up to last years. I was really excited with last year's recruiting class. Wish we would have gotten Ari (hope he decides to come back) and K. Bourne to really top it off. I just hope there isn't something we don't know about that is turning these recruits off our program.
that's true, but you have to think the facts that we're on probation and have a coach that isn't expected to stick around long also takes its toll.havgrizfan said:Uhhhh, the deccommitt thing isn't some weird, the coaching staff sucks conspiracy. It happens to the Griz ALOT, because starting with BH, the Griz really started going after kids that they weren't sure they could ever land. And early, the Griz and FCS schools are offering, then the FBS schools come well after the entire high school football season ends. i.e. Ross and Reese. It's not like they are decomitting from Montana to go to Idaho State or MSU on a regular basis. When that happens I'll start to worry. But when Hawkins Mann decommitts because Nevada, Boise State and San Diego State come calling, or Kia Ross thinks Colorado State is a better place to be, those are the breaks you get for going after a caliber of player Montana didn't recruit in the mid to late 90's. Like I said, if Kia Ross decides to go to Idaho State or Montana State, then I'll join the lynch mob.
