I would like to see him as a Griz!
He committed to us first but then he committed to Boise then he moved to San Diego then committed to the college there...so I dont think i want a school hooper for my team it seems to me that he's confused on where he wants to go.
His parents got a divorce...that alone can confuse a kid...still sounds like a quality football player and a good student. jmo
I did not hear about that now I feel like a JA. :(
Just a hunch, but I bet he ends up following Peterson to UW.

For all the recruiting gurus, who is the best get of the class so far?

In my opinion...Weyer. He's gonna be really good.

I have watched Weyer a lot this past season. Big arm but cannot run and totally poor footwork!

Yep, he sounds hopeless bobcat fan. It's a good thing you guys didn't want him. In all seriousness, the speed and footwork can both be improved with work. It will be fun to watch him mature.

Wasn't trying to be a wise ass. Just telling you my observation. I hope he works out for you guys. I am sure MSU was looking at him to. He does not appear to fit the spread offense that OC Tim Cramsey wants to run. I don't even think Jake Bleskin, last year's back- up fits into that offense. I think it will be either Prukrop, Roderick or maybe even McQueary that are all dual threats. You are right, speed and footwork can be improved. How much is questionable. He does fit better in MD's offense.

MSU was looking at him but since his brother plays for us he wanted to come to the griz.

Yes you are right on that. He decided early on that he wanted to follow his brother. MSU's target on that team is Grant Collins. He may go FBS like Dissly.

DB- Juwan Jones 6'4" 195 (Hamilton HS) Chandler, Arizona (3 Star- UM, CSU, New Mex St., San Diego ST.)

Here's the known offers still out there. Who, on this list, would you call a "must get"? Who would "make" the class? Because at this point I'm not over-the-moon about this recruiting class so far...

The Griz need OL and LB's. I would expect to see a LB transfer, whether the JC route or a drop down. I would expect to see at least three OL in this class. With schollie reductions, this class won't overwhelm you with names. It will be quality (hoping) not quantity for the next four years. Also people are just going to HAVE to get used to the fact that when it comes to Montana kids, with the NCAA sanctions, they are going to probably to go MSU on a partial vs be willing to walk on at UM with no promise of any athletic assistance for at least two seasons. That's how UM is going to have to work this thing.

IMO we need a lockdown corner who can give run support. Weakest part of the defense last year and will continue into 2014.

Hard to come by at this level. Those players usually are at FBS schools. I thought our defense had bigger holes than the corners though.

I thought we got a couple of those in last year's class?

We had 3 and two of them had at least one FBS offer (Russell and McKinnley)

QB/DB- Keenan Curran 6'2" 170 (Federal Way HS) Federal Way, WA (UM, Idaho, Wyo., San Jose St.)
and/or
DB- Juwan Jones 6'4" 195 (Hamilton HS) Chandler, Arizona (3 Star- UM, CSU, New Mex St., San Diego ST.)

Would be big time gets for us. Both have great size and can play safety but think either could work for us as a big physical CB in the Tru Johnson mold, which is obviously a real rarity at this level. I believe we have a nice foundation with JR Nelson who has height and length but still needs to add muscle and physicality to his game. Nelson showed that he's not afraid to get his hands dirty as an outstanding special teams player, but his ability in coverage was questionable, though he was playing through a bad ankle sprain most of the season. He definitely has some solid upside.
Ryan McKinnley has been discussed as a CB or Safety by the coaching staff and seems to be a great fit at Safety in my opinion. Smart, decent size, rangy with a great closing burst and ball skills which is something we have been lacking on the back end of our D for the past few years. McKinnley also has great potential at CB and could develop into that "lockdown" CB we need.
Marquin Russell really looks the part at 6'0" 190lbs with blazing speed (WA state 400m champ as a Jr. 48.2) with really nice hands. Marquin played WR in HS and is a guy who if he gets a pick will know what to do with it and nobody is going to catch him. I see Russell as having the biggest upside of the current CB's on our roster and if he maxes out his potential could be that rare, true, lock down FCS CB.
Chris Parker has speed to burn but I believe was brought in more as a return specialist who has a chance to develop at CB.

Like the two recruits mentioned above I would love to see us bring in a swingman type DB with size and groom him to be our Tru-lockdown CB, but Safety needs a game changer as well. Will verbal commit Kia Ross be that guy? 6'2" 190lb ATH from Huntington Beach, Calif.
