2014 Griz Football Recruiting (10 Signed /15 Formal admission)

Delaney said he had 7 verbal recruits last night in Butte. There are 7 listed with AJ Hotchins being doubtful (or maybe he has changed his mind)! Or we have a recruit that we are all unaware of! He also said he was looking to add a QB; I wonder if he is looking for two in this class or if they have other plans for Weyer. He also wants 3 quality OL in this class and a Safety, as of now we have one verbal OL. Lastly, he also said he only had about 3 1/2 more scholarships to give. With the loss of scholarships I sure hope they are going after very quality student athletes! One would think they have to be fairly picky in who they choose!!

Go GRIZ!!!

Who did he say are committed is it the ones we have or something different?

Also what ever happend to Colton Gavne from livingston i thought he was going to UM to or did i miss something again?

I swear I heard at the time Weyer committed that he was going to be something other than a QB. Maybe it is my old age though...

Andy Nemec verbals Carroll College. Van Diest once again shows why he can put National Championship teams on the field, year after year. He was able to see through Hellgate's record and find one of the best unknown players in the State. Big miss for the Griz.

Congrats to Andy. I think you just might be deservingly biased though. Speaking of Hellgate, who is rumored to be taking over there?

Very bias, but spot on. It's frustrating to watch inferior players get the looks because they play on winning programs. Again I'd say, it isn't a crazy coinsidence that Van Diest wins National Titles year after year. Some guys seem to know what to look for. Not sure who Hellgate will pick up..but its pretty obvious they need a change. The coaching was embarrassing this year...

If you think recruiting is easy, you are nuts. The Griz only have around 10-12 slots this year.

Is it possible that he is not a need for UM?
If UM missed so badly, then why not idaho state or msu?
Maybe the coaches see bad work ethic or bad feet?
Maybe he had an attitude the coaches did not like??

When you say "inferior playes" how do you know this?

Yes being on a terrible team makes it harder to be seen, but trust me, if he was a need and worthy of an offer... HE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ONE!

It seems that a need is at corner. Do we get one? Or do we have some red shirts coming?

We have two VERY solid RS's coming up next year...McKinnley & another one who's name escapes me.

Marquinn Russell and Chris Parker also

Russell was the one I was thinking of...had forgotten about Parker. :thumb:

Mr. Nemec, congrats on your son going to Carroll, it's a great program and a great school, and yes, coach Van Diest is a great coach. To clarify something though, Carroll doesn't win the NAIA national title year-after-year. That statement implied that the Saints win it every single season. The Saints last won a chipper in 2010, and in fact, didn't even qualify for the NAIA playoffs a year ago. Coach Van Diest is currently in his 13th season at CC and has six national titles. Very impressive. I know him personally, and am a big fan of his, but six titles in 13 years, while amazing, is NOT "year after year".

Secondly, and I'll never understand this, why do parents have to put down other athletes in order to talk about their own? Why can't you just tell us how good of a player your son is without calling current Griz recruits and current players 'inferior"?

I stopped reading his posts after that comment.

Committed to the University of Montana today! Going to be playing football for the Griz next year!

Wow look, Griz got a commit from Hellgate. Thought I read earlier that UM only looks at successful programs.

Welcome to GRIZ NATION Kole.

Seems like Hellgate is bringing us one player every year. Too bad they don't have depth like other AA teams do. What positions will Kole likely play?

Here's what colter from bobcat nation had to say about him
Kole Schwartz, DL, Missoula Hellgate, Senior

Submitted by Colter_Nuanez on Mon, 05/06/2013 - 14:51
Kole Schwartz, DL, Missoula Hellgate, Senior: He's got a great frame — 6-foot-5, 200 pounds — and room to fill it out, but he'll be hard-pressed to get big time exposure playing for a squad that's struggled for the better part of the last decade.

UPDATE: After some time training with former Montana tight end Steven Pfahler, Schwartz is up to about 230 pounds. He had a standout week at the University of Montana camp and one source said the Grizzlies offered him at least a partial scholarship.
