2014 Griz Football Recruiting (10 Signed /15 Formal admission)

Wish I were better with names, but there has been a few of them. Or could it be that we recruit so few big WR's compared to EWU, and they have been so good at it, it seems worse than it is? Just happy to see we got this kid. If he gets his 40 time to 4.6 or better, hope we keep him at WR.

...Yet the GRIZ take these guys and turn the guy into just another TE. In this case, his 40 time is more along the line of a TE than a big play WR. I would understand that at a 4.7 40. Not sure how much time this kid can trim off that time over a year. If he gets to the high 4.5's to low 4.6's, I really hope we don't waste him at TE.

40 Times are a myth...

QB- Dallas Cook 6'4" 210 (Butte HS) Butte, MT (UM & msu)

but his head is in the clouds, looking for FBS

(1st team All-Stater and State Offensive MVP) Dallas Cook threw an 80 yard touchdown bomb on the very first play of this years Bulldog intra-squad scrimmage. It was over 50 yards in the air up the sideline, and hit the WR (2nd team All-Stater, Junior Dalton Daum) in perfect stride.

On the TV news, Ted Dawson, the Bozeman KBZK sports director said, "Cook shows why he is on every school in the countries radar with this 80 yard touchdown."

Cook is much heavier than 210. He looks like a Griz DE.

I hope Mick and the staff get after AJ Hotchkins over in Oregon. Besides going to my High School (automatically makes him the best in the nation ;) ), that kid is a BEAST! Right now Idaho is his number 1. Does anyone know what role he could play with the Griz? He is a natural FB but Portland State is after him for LB.

He will be very good in FCS... Not so much in FBS.

If he's the A J Hotchkins out of Tigard, Oregon 'Peyton' already has denoted that's he's been offered by the Griz as on his list on the first posting of this thread. Thanks for the info though.

I saw that he was offered. I was suggesting that Mick and the staff should work hard to land this kid because he would be a force in the backfield. Loves contact, loves destroying DEs and LBs, and runs angry. He has a nose for the ball on defense as a LB (played DE last year, though). He has said that he prefers FB. With the new offense we have, he would be a great fit. He is on a lot of peoples radar including Idaho, which is his current #1.

Thanks for your opinion.

I guess the FBS schools have no clue then.

TRUE... how is Carrigan doing, Tanner could not make it at flipin Nevada, so what makes you think Cook can?

Heard CMR defensive end Alex Thomas gave the Griz his verbal commitment Saturday night

This would be great news. Alex is an absolute blue chip MT recruit. A DE who is also one of the fastest track athletes in the state, although maybe an OLB in college. He's faster than the kitties new RB Gunnar Brekke on the track. I just love the speed that the Griz continue to recruit without sacrificing size, strength and character. :thumb:

Go Griz!

Played last year, as far as I can understand, as primarily a RDE with biometrics of 6'1" and 200 lbs.

That is a very poor comparison. Roderick and Cook are completely different players with very little in common in terms of playing style and strengths. The only thing they have in common is that they both are from Montana and both played QB. Cook is more of a prototypical QB than Roderick is. If you were going to compare him to a MT QB, Brock Osweiler would be a better comparison (even that is a reach of a comparison, but is much closer). I have no idea if Cook will have success or not, but he certainly has the potential and assets that FBS programs covet. He'll get his chance at the FBS level because of his god given talent and physical makeup alone. It's up to him if he wants to put the work into winning a starting job. Good on him for wanting to play at the highest level, can't begrudge him for that... at least you shouldn't...

Also, Carriger (say the name right, have some respect) has been getting a lot of high praise at Oregon and is in the rotation at OLB as a freshmen. He will be a future starter if he continues to progress, but fans are very high on him now. Had a very good spring and got a lot of PT in the Nicholls state blow out this weekend.
