OL- Natrell Curtis 6'2' 300 (Mountain Pointe HS) Phoenix, AZ (Arizona, ASU or UCLA)
WHY??? Because he probably will NOT qualify as an Div1 athlete. Inside info from a Griz parent that lives in AZ. Great program but many kids in AZ suffer from lower academic standards & dont test well nationally.

I wish the young man all the luck in the world. But theres something special brewing in Missoula!

Drew Lewis to Washington:

Eastlake (Sammamish, Wa.) ATH Drew Lewis has seen his recruiting take off over the past couple of months and on Saturday, he got an offer from Washington and decided pretty quickly he wanted to be a Dawg.

”They asked me to switch to linebacker for my workouts there, so I did and after seeing me yesterday and then my improvement today after getting used to it, they decided to offer me,” Lewis told NEI. “After I thought about things for a little while I just decided to walk up to coach Sark and I said I wanted to be a Dawg.

”He was really excited and pumped up. They were the school I was sorta waiting on and for me to get that offer and then be able to commit, it was just exciting.”

Lewis chose Washington over offers from Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Washington State, Arizona State, Wyoming, Montana and Air Force and while he said he’s excited about becoming a Husky, he’s still planning to visit other schools.

”I’m going to try and make it out to Pitt and Oregon State at some point this summer,” Lewis said. “Oregon State was sorta my runner-up and Pitt is a program I have a lot of respect for, so I want to still check them out, but I’m happy with my decision and I’m planning to be a Husky.”

Lewis said the Huskies and most of the other schools recruiting him like him at linebacker and that is where he expects to play after adding some size over the next 12 months.

If he suffers academically it's because of his choices not the system. I just put one kid through 12 years of school and another through ten years....relocated to Texas and she is so far ahead of her classmates she will literally be a part time student her last two years of high school and STILL graduate with extra credits.

Hey, all I am saying is it might be the athlete's PERSONAL standards that are low and not the state's. :D

New Verbal:

Gig Harbor (Wash.) wideout Reese Carlson saw his stock rise after a strong junior campaign, so much so that he earned an offer from the University of Montana this offseason.

This week, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder decided to accept the scholarship offer, and verbally committed to the Grizzlies.

”The past success at Montana is what drew me initially. They are almost always competing for the Big Sky championship. Once I walked around the campus and saw the football facilities I was even more impressed,” Carlson told NEI following his commitment.

”I’ve been to other schools and their camps, and didn’t quite fall in love like I did at Montana. I felt like Montana was where the Lord wanted me to be and my family thought so too,” he added.

Carlson is a gym rat – the type of kid that just loves to be around sports and loves to be putting in work. So naturally, that aspect of the atmosphere at Montana factored greatly into his decision. “Montana feels like they always have to be the hardest working team in the weight room year-round, and that’s something I’ve tried to do myself – to is succeed in the offseason when others think they can relax and take a day off,” he says.

Carlson caught 32 passes for 700 yards and 7 TD’s last season, earning 2nd team all-league honors along the way.

Now with recruiting in his rearview mirror, Carlson can focus on his upcoming senior season at Gig Harbor. “I feel so blessed to be in the position I’m in right now. It feels really good to be done with the recruiting process this early. I only have to worry about winning games this year and enjoying it all with my teammates. I feel like we have a special team this year and can’t wait for O’dea.”

New offer
Reese Carlson - WR 6'4" 215 Gig Harbor, WA

No chance, that kid has EWU size WR written all over him. Meanwhile, the GRIZ convert him to TE.

I honestly don't see why we don't use guys like this at WR and use them at TE instead? Yet, EWU has proven for way too long they know how to utilize big WR's.

Perusing through this thread and saw this gem from mtgrizrule. :D :D :D

This kid is HS WR, and sure glad he chose the GRIZ. My point being EWU takes these big WR and keep them there. They have success with it over and over. Yet the GRIZ take these guys and turn the guy into just another TE. In this case, his 40 time is more along the line of a TE than a big play WR. I would understand that at a 4.7 40. Not sure how much time this kid can trim off that time over a year. If he gets to the high 4.5's to low 4.6's, I really hope we don't waste him at TE. EWU knows how to build these guys as WR's. Sure wish we would figure out whatever they have figured out with big WR's.

Where do u get that reasoning from mtgrizrule? I don't remember many big WRs that we've turned into a TE. We have Mitch Saylor who we kept at WR.
