2014 Griz Football Recruiting (10 Signed /15 Formal admission)

I know it's early in the process and I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but this list looks like a whole lotta nothin'...I mean, there MIGHT be 2-3 guys on this list that we even have a snowball's chance in hell of landing...

Deboskie? Nope. Crawford? I don't think so. Richey, Jones, Bennett, Anderson....nope,nope,nope and nope. Curtis? MAYBE Mertes and possibly Griffin on the defensive side....I appreciate shooting for the stars, but man, how about some names that we actually have a chance of landing?

Well, if you don't offer at all, then you certainly have no chance, do you??

I get that...just seems like an inordinate number of kids who we have NO shot in landing, and a dearth of actual possibilities.

I understand both sides of this coin...

However, the guys offered by UM thus far, along with the "bigger" schools, are well established football players. IE starters as Sophs and Juniors and have a lot of film. The truth is that 3/4 of the recruits that will end up being Griz in 2014, are on the Griz radar... But have ZERO OFFERS from anyone and wont until September or October, because that is when the film will start showing thier abilities.

Last year the Griz had one early verbal, the QB from Idaho and from all that I have seen and heard, he ended up with "bigger" offers and stuck with the Griz. This year the Griz have one "early" verbal and he too is going to have "bigger" offers... hope he honors his verbal... but he does not have to!

My dad used to tell me (paraphrase) "shoot high and ask the most beautiful girl in the room out, all she can say is no, but when all the other smoes wont have the courage to ask, you will have a chance, THEY are assured of a NO!"

Payton, that was so well said. I think the comment about where are the offers to guys the Griz have a chance at is an underhanded way of saying "where are the Montana kids on this list?" I LOVE that since BH the Griz at least recruit these high-level players. I remember BH and Pflu both sayin that they were going to go after FBS kids no matter how many times we get told no. IMHO that recruiting strategy has worked out pretty well. People should just relax. February is a LONNGGGGGG wayyyy off. The names on Payton's list will change. Montana kids will appear. Chill...And Payton, thanks for all you do.

Tell you what....how about you don't put words in my mouth? It has NOTHING to do with Montana kids, period. Personally, I couldn't care less whether there are ANY Montana kids on the list. It was a legitimate question regarding our possibility of landing ANY of those kids. How about YOU chill, with all your "Montana kids" conspiracy theories.

Interesting that you can see into the future...! ;)

I know the coaches have talked to Calvin Connors from Lowry high school. He will be attending the griz summer camp. Calvin's grandfather coached in Montana for years.

Wide receiver Jamaal Jones comes to UM from the University of Washington, while fullback Jamal Wilson is a transfer from Boise State.

A 6-1, 188-pounder from Spanaway, Wash., Jones saw action in three games last season and earned a letter playing for the Huskies. He served as the team captain for UW in its game against Arizona. He was a redshirt at Washington in 2011.

Jones was a first team All-South Puget Sound League at wide receiver league selection as a junior and senior at Graham-Kapowsin High School in Spanaway. He missed his senior season due to an injury. He was listed as the state of Washington's No. 11 overall recruit by rivals.com as a senior. He was also a standout basketball player earning all-league honors as a junior and sophomore.

Talk about 'the pieces falling into place' around here; with a 5'11 238 lbs. FB that likes to hit whose blocking acts as a springboard for the likes of Van, Canada, Counts and Kirshner hitting the open field it's Tail-Back U.
