Haven't heard that about Alex Thomas. That would be unfortunate if true. Any word on why he would decommit?

a couple weeks ago I had heard carroll. I assumed they offered more $$.
i just heard c.c. also. too bad if true.

Sometimes the "offered more money" part is misleading. Carroll, Rocky and most private schools almost always offer "more money". However, since they cost 2 to 4 times as much as UM or MSU, it is not always a better deal. Where the private schools make it up is in the amount of financial aid they can offer, either through need or academics. They usually have very large endowments that can provide a lot of private support.

Regardless, if a kid feels that Carroll is a better fit for him, we should all be wishing him the best. I hope it is, and that he goes on to do great things.

Could be. I will withhold comment till it all shakes out. It could end up being what is best for both Alex and the Griz.

....nothing unusual going on here fellas. Thats why it is called verbal.
I'm just happy they went with the term "verbal" instead of "oral". Seems like a good strategy!

Huntington Beach quarterback/defensive back Kai Ross, The Register's 2013 offensive player of the year, is no longer committed to Montana and is picking up interest from a trio of Division 1-A programs.

The senior reports that he has scheduled an official recruiting trip to Colorado State for the weekend of Jan. 24 and plans to visit either Idaho or UNLV the weekend of Jan. 17. All three schools are recruiting him as an athlete.

Ross made an official trip to Montana in October. Montana projects Ross as a safety.

Lets just hope that a windy, snowstorm directly hits Fort Collins the entire Jan. 24th week. Also hope for LV casino to take all of Mama Ross' money the first night and serve her some rotten shrimp cocktail. And Moscow will be itself. Memories of the nice Missoula trip in October will shine. :thumb: Think positive thoughts.

What we need is a punishing runner who can stay healthy. Van and Canada don't have the braun to take charge and Counts wasn't on the field enough. Any Hilliards out there?

A punishing runner can't punish when the OL doesn't block.

Needs:
OL/DL - Starter Level Talent
LB - Starter Level
CB - Physical & Tackles in space

Wants:
Well designed Short/Mid Range passing game
A more diversified & athletic defensive scheme
Consistent success kicking & blocking during Special Teams

Give me some of this in 2014 and get the hell out the way

I love "fans" who insist that, because we LOST starters, we must not have starter-level talent on the roster. You guys fucking slay me.

Spot on AZ. You aren't going to recruit talent that is going to come in as true freshmen and start right away very often. You recruit players that you hope can plug in the 2nd year and start the 3rd year. Sometimes you have to rely on a true freshman to contribute, but not often and very seldom as a starter. The top programs don't have to do that and bring in talent they can develop and turn into smart, nasty and confident football players. Looking at the young depth, I'd expect we are looking for some OL, DL, LB, and CBs. We recruited the skill positions heavy last year.

I tell ya, signing day can't get here fast enough...

This is promising, though fans should not be talking to him. Have to hang onto David for a few more weeks!

And we lost fewer relevant seniors than in a normal year.

please explain. we lost the best l.b. crew in school history. the tenth ranked l.b. (tripp) and 18th ranked tackle (kistler) in the nation. both likely draft picks. not to mention goodwin, poehls, oiland, bienemann and pierson. we may not have lost a lot of seniors, but who we lost were damn good. we may have a few guys that can match some of them, but overall we're down especially on defense. our secondary will be just as bad, no way will we be as good at l.b., and the d.l. will be slightly better. we were fifth in the bsc this year.

of the twelve best players on the team at least nine are gone. jp, tripp, coyle, kistler, poehls, oiland, bienemann, pierson, goodwin. with henderson, wags, j.j. being the other three.
