2014 Griz Football Recruiting (10 Signed /15 Formal admission)

Reese Carlson is doing pretty decent this season. :clap: http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/reese-carlson/7z8U6fTyEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/football-stats.htm#year=13-14" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Lonegriz, keep me posted on the two kids you mentioned: Shane Cochran and Rhett Harmon. I have some oil field work near Bainville and I'd love to watch these kids when I am in that area.
In the land of wind, wheat, cows and oil. Lots of good people in that part of the world.
Sometimes these young guys look extra good and fast against not so fast guys, so they really need to stand out. In my opinion it is extra hard to get a good take on these kids in the smaller schools but I would love to see one or both of these young men in Griz camp.

Down year in Oregon. The Ducks have only offered 2 or 3 Oregon kids and one of those is committed to Stanford. Reese is one of only two Oregon OL listed as prospects on Rivals. Hopefully he stays under the radar

He is averaging 260 yds per game so far this year.

Going into the Glacier game last night, Cook's stats:

PASSING GP Effic Att-Cmp-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G
---------------------------------------------------------------
Cook, Da 4 140.73 165-94-2 57.0 1300 10 0 325.0

RUSHING GP Att Gain Loss Net Avg TD Long Avg/G
-----------------------------------------------------------
Cook, Da 4 40 375 45 330 8.2 3 0 82.5

Then add the 530 Passing Yards, 5 Passing TDs, 5 INTs, 1 Rushing TD (of 32 yards out) he had against the states best defense Glacier. He is now averaging 366 yards passing a game.

I was highly impressed with the kids from Glacier, tons of speed and aggression everywhere. Their defensive name preceeds them. They were badass (talented). Which makes Butte's offensive performance even more special to me.

Junior WR Dalton Daum (blue-chip recruit) went into the the Glacier game:

RECEIVING GP No. Yds Avg TD Long Avg/G
------------------------------------------------------------
Daum, D 4 21 383 18.2 4 0 95.8

Then add in the 20 receptions for 286 yards he produced against Glacier last night! Dalton now has 41 receptions for 669 yards, for an average catch of 16.3 per catch, and a game average of 133.8 recieving yards a game...halfway through the regular season. This kid could have over 3,000 career recieving yards in 3 varsity years, soph thru senior, before he's done...he's on that track.

Glacier shared the states best scoring defense (along with Helena) going into last nights game versus Butte, allowing only 41 points in 4 games, for a 10.2 average per game. Butte then scored 41 themselves against Glacier. But it wasn't enough, as 6 Butte turnovers (a few for touchdowns going the other way) proved to be too much to overcome. Congrats to Glacier, they are very, very good! Much respect.

These stats are before last nights games:

....PASS OFFENSE......G Att Cmp Int Pct. Yds Avg TD Yds/G

Why does grizzly recruiting is so slow compared to other schools.

Compared to FCS schools it is on par, even ahead of many FCS schools. Compared to mid to upper level BCS, it is slower. That is because, the bigger conferences, and schools usually get the preferred recruits. The majority of our recruits fall to us later as recruits have been eliminated by larger schools.

Everyone talks about seniors QB Will Weyer (Griz verbal) and TE/DE Will Dissley, and LB Grant Collins from Bozeman. All 3 are atleast FCS caliber. But I'd be pretty dang suprised if their is a better RB in the state than Bozeman's Hunter Gapmeyer. He is 5'9", 200 lbs and runs very strong, fast. He is Bozeman's All-Time Rusher. Bozeman finished the 2012 season #2 as state runners-up, and are currently ranked #1 in 2013. Hunter is a major reason why...in fact, last week he rushed for 210 yards and 5 touchdowns! He is good catching the ball as well. Don't be suprised to see him playing post high school.

Gapmeyer is single-handedly making Capital look pathetic.

Hunter Gappmayer, finished the night with six touchdowns and had 24 carries for 194 yards.

Not at all. Most FCS schools have zero verbals as HS players will wait until the latest they can for that "perfect" FBS verbal. For some kids its his favorite college or a certain part of the country. But sometimes its because the school is near a beach, even where his GF is headed or religious reasons. Its not east to figure out and thats why the Griz coaches are very smart to throw out a huge net, you never know what kids will come to Missoula on a recruiting trip and fall in love.

I would say that 3 verbals at this time of the season is ahead of sched. In fact up until 3 years ago, we never heard of any Griz Verbals until mid to late December.

Colorado State was at the game looking at Dissly.

From Colter on BN about Gappmayer

He's getting recruited by every Frontier school. No Big Sky offers yet. He'll likely be a walk-on. He won't come to Montana State. He's a life-long Griz fan so if he doesn't go to the Frontier, he'll walk on at Montana.
