2014/15 Roster

Being there is not a GRIZ game tonight, I figured it would be a good time to debate next season's roster. I have a feeling with the inconsistent effort and play this season, it could lead to an unexpected departure or 2, other than graduation. Other than Dunn, Deshields, Gregory, Gfeller, Breunig (despite the rumor, he is staying) and Bradshaw, I think it is a possibility we see departures from one or 2 or the other players.

This year's team just does not seem as united and together as prior teams were. At times, it looks many players just are not on the same page. I have not seen as much encouragement from the bench as in the past. We have seen inconsistent and uncharacteristic defensive breakdowns. Offensive continuity has been inconsistent as well. Our bigs have struggled consistently on the boards, which is disappointing.

To me, these little variables are signs of a few guys possibly having checked out or not wanting to be there. If that is the case, I hope the players who do not want to be there will be honest about it after the season is finished. I hate to see any player leave the program, but I also want a team of players who are willing to give 100% every practice and game. Wayne showed in the last offseason, he will make tough decisions with players who are taking away from the team, or falling short of on the court or off the court expectations.

I do have a few names I am thinking of, but no need to bring names into it, being I am not sure of it. I also respect the players, coaches, team, and parents. With that said, who else thinks me may have other departures other than Jamar and Hutchison graduating?

First it is going to blow losing KJ......I guarantee next year we'll be saying, "Damn, if only we had KJ." Seems like there is always a hole in our roster.

Second, it will be a breath of fresh air when Hutch leaves........Sorry, but its how I feel. I have never seen a player show no signs of improvement, with the same HC, for 5 years. The dude was on the same team during Anthony Johnsons senior year.

As for players leaving? I am at a loss on that one. We lost Coleman for being an idiot. In addition, we lost Henderson due to grades. Who knows if any of our players are lacking in the classroom, Reader style.

Weisner, now off the bench, is going into his Sr. year- No need to leave.

Lopez, going into his Sophomore season- No clue, he should have red shirted.

Martin..........................................................I honestly don't know if he would be productive (right now) at a place like Carrol. He is still a project. I doubt he leaves. Of course he could pull a Vanderjagt and transfer to a smaller college.

Young- Good for bolstering team GPA, but that's it. Walk-on.

Emerson- Is he still a scholarship player? That would be a nice scholly to free up if he is still on. Another Frontier player.

Kemp I could see leaving. With Breunig entering the line-up next season, Martin, and the kid from Eastern MT coming into the fold, I could see Kemp leaving. I hope he doesn't. I like his play, and he seems to be improving (slightly).

I actually hope all big guys stay because if Kemp or Martin leave, it may force Tinkle to burn Boehnings RS. It would be nice to actually give one of these kids a year to learn the curve (Not that it helped Hutch).

Kemp could benefit the most with Breunig playing. Kemp is not a 5 and is stuck playing it this season.

This. Kemp realistically has the height to be playing as a large 3, but due to his overall size is more of a quick 4. The guy just realistically isn't big enough to be a consistent dominate 5 even in the Big Sky. I love the hustle he plays with, and I think next year he really could be a key player, but this year he's been thrown into a place that isn't productive for anybody.
