Tate is going to EWU.

Hopefully to have some great battles with McKinley, Russell (if he plays CB) and some of the other Griz recruits for the next 4 or 5 years. I haven't followed it too closely, but Eastern appears to have a solid recruiting class on board.

I lurked over there a couple days ago and they only had 6 names. I'm sure the coaches have more names than that but their board doesn't have Payton.

That is what I had posted and saw on one of the scouting sites last week.... but today it shows that verbal gone and UM listed as HIGH. Which means that is his preference... I guess we will know next Wends.

Payton,
You do unbelievably good work putting this together every year.
It still is quiet out here on Michael Carlson.
He would be a sweet Bowtie to place on this years prizes.
Any further updates?
Go Griz!

Two questions:

1) We've heard virtually NOTHING on Simis since his early verbal...anything new to report?
2) What happens to the 11 offers when the schollies are gone? Is it the first ones to get their letters in? How does that work?

Makena uploaded these highlights on January 11th with the description; " University of Montana Commit - QB - Makena Simis Capital High School Class of 2013"

Usually when a school gets a verbal they inform other players they offered that they no longer have an offer available. So the reality is that the 11 offers that are still shown may not really be there.

The players RARELY let it be known that the offer has been dropped because it gives them leverage with other schools.

If I was a Griz fan, I would be excited about Simis as a QB for two reasons. 1) Very compact, quick throwing motion seems accurate, 2) Seems to have a feel for moving around the pocket to get throws off....two of the things that stood out to me when we got McGhee.

Hope you are right. I am waiting for a naysayer to chime in anytime now.

Obviously it's a highlight reel so we don't see the bad but damn he looks good. Footwork and he steps into his throws even if he's about to get hit. Now I'm not implying he's Peyton Manning but his footwork reminds me of Peyton. Almost like happy feet but under control.

Makena Simis' senior season. I just thought some might like to watch some video to pass the time until signing day and spring ball. Sorry if this has already been posted.

Apparently this wasn't an exhaustive search to see if this video was already posted.

In Washington rumors started flying yesterday through the inner circles of football recruiting that San Jose State was making a move on Federal Way High Schools Mike Tate . After reaching out to Michael and his Mom apparently that news was true. With a verbal to EWU in place and many other Big Sky schools after him San Jose State is in fact “tripping” him to San Jose over the weekend. This tends to indicate that they will make a move on him over the weekend on the trip. That timing is crucial.

Just talked to Peter Christian about the upcoming recruiting class - he'll probably be on here in a while to post the link. Hopefully I did ya justice Payton - it was a quick interview!

Exciting to say the least. Again thanks to Payton for his hard work and good effort. Now if the D day would come we would see who and who not.

So far the Griz have done quite well and waaaay better than I thought we might do at this point in time.

Sign these pups!

Thanks to all for the kind words. I really do love this part of the football season.

Ursa Major said it best "From the end of the season until the national day of signing I picture Payton’s living room stripped of furniture except for a giant horseshoe shaped desk with 8 computer monitors. He spends countless hours monitoring media sites to keep us all up to date on recruiting news while gulping coffee and smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day. He doesn't do it alone either. His children are pulled out of school and kept on an optimal dosage of Adderall so they can monitor Scouts and Rival websites for 18 hour shifts. His wife runs in sandwiches when she isn’t monitoring prospective recruits facebook and twitter accounts. Cut the guy some slack."

Get back to work, tell the kids to turn off Assassins Creed, get the wife to put on more coffee and let me know if you want me to drop off more Adderall and Marlboro's

And because of all that, WE only have to check ONE place periodically.
