We need to focus on Montana kids this year, for several reasons including the following:

1. We simply need more of them. MSU outnumbered us BIG TIME in MT kids on the roster. It's not everything, but it matters. (former walk-ons Schriebies and Sampson were 1st team BSC.) UM desparately needs a Marc Mariani or Colt Anderson.

2. We're not losing anybody that leaves a huge hole. Yes, we lose Greg Hardy (and he was good), but we've got some talent to replace him. We've got some great young depth at skill positions. (i.e. speed)

3. There is some good talent out there this year in MT highschool sports.

4. Not many schollies, so we can give out a BUNCH of halves/quarter schollies.

GO GRIZ

Guardiangriz, I wouldn't exactly say 44-38 on the active roster is out-numbering the Griz big time.

And are you suggesting just to give kids from MT schollies just to say the Griz have more MT kids than MSU, regardless of if they can play? The Griz have four early verbals from Montana kids right now.

Who knew recruiting was so easy...

Was my understanding that we had about 12 scholarships to give out and just got an extra one with Trevor Poole and their will be a few that will leave, always happens so between partials and full scholarships I look for us to bring in 15-16 guys.

After talking with a few sources. They said we only had 1 only fricken 1 recruit at the Bobcat game I know we lost but why the hell not bring them in to that atmosphere and let them enjoy but instead they said we have a bunch of recruits coming in the 30th SMH WHY?

Seriously? We didn't invite them to the biggest game of the year? That's just stupid.

I'm assuming he is talking about Official Visits from out of state recruits, which are scheduled months in advance sometimes. Montana kids go to Griz home games all throughout the year, along with plenty of out of state recruits. Every program in America has big Official visit weekends after the season is over. Plus, I don't think the UM coaches were planning on having the season end with the MSU game, regardless, its not uncommon to wait to have big official visit weekends until after the season

To have only 1 recruit for Cat-Griz is ridiculous. It's the biggest game of the year, best environment of the year. I understand that not every recruit can make it for that specific date, but we should've had more than 1 for sure.

A couple of things. Number one, I would be very surprised if there was only one recruit there, unless they are counting an official visit. I know many kids are told to show up and we will get you in. At least that has happened in the past. It is on the kids own dime and then not an official visit. Secondly, 4 of the 5 state championship games were played at the same time as the griz-cat game. I assume there are also playoff and championship games for out of state players as well? This could have cut down on it as well. You guys need to settle down. The sky is not falling.

I want the best coaches possible for BEST guys period and I dont care where the hell they come from! Tradition becomes vital in recruiting seasons for programs like ours during a down year.

Good talent goes to waste if not developed into something special through coaching. Keep in the mind the BCS is the most recognizable FCS conference in the country. Lots of national recruits are falling to the FCS level now.

GOOD talent from instate programs may not measure up to what is in this conference now! Just Saying

Go Griz

The TWO prior quotes are pretty much spot on IMO. I Agree this team needs a few tweaks, adjustments and advancements from primarily the coaching staff in the areas of recruiting, development & game management! The Freshmen/Sophomore classes are National Championship caliber. Some coach is going to inherit a fortune in talented & experience!

Funny, I think our Junior and Senior classes are national championship caliber too... 8-) 8-) 8-)

I see on all of these recrutes to go to the U of M that there are kids from bigger schools, i understand how you guys notice the bigger schools over the smaller schools but there is a lot of talent in Class C, and i feel like Class C is getting over looked...

Sure, lower classes in Montana high school football, such as 'A,' 'B' and 'C' get overlooked; especially since most, if not all, of the newspapers in the State of Montana list the 'AA' All-Conference as well as All-State by name, height, weight, year, school, position, etc., etc., etc., for 1st Team and 2nd Team offenses and defenses, plus honorable mention besides.

But when it comes to these same newspapers listing All-Conference and All-State players for Classes 'A,' 'B,' and 'C' what do you get? Maybe they get the name and school right, maybe they condescend on the player's year in school, but that's about it, if you're lucky.

Now, that isn't the newspaper's fault, far from it. Many a time I've seen advertised requests for such listings in order to be printed. The coaches for the Class 'AA' schools know that their senior players are being scouted, not just by UofM and the bobcats but also by out of state schools besides. They have their All-Conference and All-State player listings up to date and are sharp about it; as stated above: name, school, year, height, weight, position, etc. But the coaches for the other classes?...they don't send in these listings the way the 'AA' coaches do, and I've noticed this for over twenty years now; sometimes it appears like they just don't care or give a damn. Occasionally Class 'A' has done it the way the Class 'AA' coaches have done it, but that's like maybe twice that I've noticed. Anyone else, forget it. Sometimes you're lucky you even get a box score for a game, yet alone who did what and where. Player's height and weight..."who needs to know that? Go out and measure them yourself if you're so damn interested." Besides, who's going to go out from Missoula and/or Bozeman to scout Class 'B' yet alone Class 'C' schools anyways? All-Conference? All-State??!! What's that? If you want to know you come to us, ya hear.

I dont believe that he has been offered... but I have recieved some great info that he is definatly on the UM radar... GREAT HANDS and deseptive speed...

WOW, I hope his 40 time is legit! It be nice to a have a burner at RB. :thumb:

It would be a first. :thumb:

And it would be what UM has needed.

Look at EWU, MSU and other teams that have had success, they've all had GAME BREAKING speed at RB. You need the ability to score on every carry, UM has lacked that for the most part...

I still can't believe we failed to offer NAU's lightning quick RB Bauman, even after Griz WR coach was jumping up and down to sign him!
