Anthem Boulder Creek CB Ryan McKinley visited North Dakota State and now has visited all three of his top schools. He says, "NDSU was real nice. I liked it a lot, I am just blessed and lucky that out of these three schools, I cannot go wrong either way."
Can't put a lot on anything tweeted, but I like the fact he used "loving' it out here in Montana" compared to "NDSU is real nice".
He does have a Couple of friends on the NDSU team however; and he also mentioned how much he dislikes the cold which does not bode well for either UM or NDSU.
We will know soon.
Ryan, Maroon will look great on you!
Go Griz!

Well since McKinley's deciding among us, NDSU, and NAU, and Flagstaff is far from warm in the winter, so I guess he's screwed on the weather tip.

Crossing my fingers for McKinley. He would round out this class into a surprisingly very very good one, as far as out of state recruiting goes. McKinley has a chance to start as a true freshman. His skill/potential already exceeds that of Dennard, and Murray and I see him as an even better prospect than Nate Harris who I am very high on.

I couldn't agree more with you.

my beef: no beef! games are won in the trenches. i don't care what linemen we have on the roster right now, to go an entire recruiting ccycle and not sign one kid on either side of the line is an obvious glaring snafu. and don't tell me we have five "preferred walkons" to cover the gap. we need to recruit quality.

linemen, like centers in basketball, often take time to bulk up and adjust to the speed of the college game. a line recruit is an investment in the future. looks to me like this staff is trying to save its butt next year, and the hell with beyond. gimme one or two good line prospects, and quick. else this class will have been a bust.

I agree about the need to bring in linemen with each class. We do not know at this time that the staff has not recruited linemen. The staff and the school can not release information until Feb. What we hear currently is only from the players themselves.

Well if the kid wants a chance at a NC ring he is really down to two schools. I suppose NAU has a chance, because he would probably play as a true freshmen for them. Anybody know what the kid plans on studying, that could potentially play a role, but I doubt it. I kind of have a gut feeling that he will be a Griz, due to the fact that he may play sooner for you guys, but the kid has the size and ability to play right away. Although we are pretty deep in the secondary right now, but we are losing one of our starting CB's, so who knows. Plus I guess he has a few friends on the our squad already, but I am sure you guys have a few AZ boys he could relate to as well. I would think we will know his decision some time this week, unless he is holding out hope for a FBS offer and waits until the last day. Well good luck, but here's to hopeing he joins The Herd and not the Griz. :D

If kid is wanting to win nc, obviously ndsu is a no brainer. They are THE premier team in fcs right now with shsu being a distant second.

Ryan looks to have a good head on his shoulders. He is being very deliberate in his evaluation of his top 3 schools. I think he could be another 4 year CB starter. When he was first offered by the Griz he said he liked that the Griz were having defensive backs being drafted into the NFL. The Griz are putting defensive players into the NFL with regularity. He could very well be one of the next to be drafted. All 3 programs have their pros and cons for him (location, tradition, recent success, NFL development, etc). One thing is for certain, any of the 3 will be chillier than what he is used to.

If he wants to play post-college, having played in the cold will serve him well.

I liked McKinley's game film. Even at that I question how effective a high 4.6 to low 4.7 40 player at CB be at this level? If he has a chance at the NFL, his speed has to improve a lot. Based on video, I love this kid. Based on good speed being a huge factor at CB, I do wonder how much potential he has.

A legitimate 4.6 for a high-school kid is really not that slow. The odds of it being a legitimate time are slim to none, because HS times are BS for the most part. Trumaine Johnson ran a 4.5-4.61 40 at the NFL combine and ended up starting as a rookie in the NFL.
McKinley's ability to play press and break on the ball are elite for the FCS level. He has VERY good size for a high school and FCS corner, incredible instincts and dominates his competition athletically.
I have seen the guy play in person multiple times and I think if he becomes a Griz you will be pleasantly surprised by his ability to bump & run with speedy WR's. :thumb:
He has a chance to walk onto campus and be a starter from day 1 at UM

I love seeing CB's that can bump and run well. Would our DC have the balls to allow it though? Hell even Tru did not get to do it often, until Breske came aboard. Breske helped Tru's draft stock by allowing him to show he was very good at it.

Kind of cool that the Rams have a Bison and a Griz in thier starting secondary. Criag Dahl is thier starting safety and was on our 06-07 back to back 10-1 seasons during our transition.

That is neat, but unfortunately it sounds like they are shopping for a new safety to replace Dahl. He's a hard-nosed player nonetheless.

Looks like Ryan McKinley has committed to Montana...damn really wanted him.

Useless, incompetent, lame duck Mick Delaney stole two top recruits from defending 2-time national champion NDSU.

Seriously.

Holy shit.
