2013 Appalachian/Montana - Travel Suggestions

Hey Griz fans-

Appalachian State fan here starting to think about travel plans for the 2013 game in Missoula. I have been kicking myself for not making the playoff trip several years ago, so no way I will be missing this game! Hopefully all of you guys that made the trip to Boone this year had a fun and enjoyable trip (beside the game of course...haha). It seemed like all the Montana fans I ran into were having a good time....and that is what I am looking for on the return trip!!!!

SO.........having never been to Missoula I wanted to see if some of you guys could make some suggestions/recommendations on lodging, eating, and of course drinkin. Any certain areas that are best to look for hotels? Taxi or rental car? Best bars/brewery? Sightseeing?

Likely flying in Wednesday/Thursday and staying through Sunday

Hope all you guys have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and hopefully we will get to meet some of you in August!

Go Mountaineers!

First recommendation; bring some shine..

Second recommendation; stay at the Double Tree.

Final recommendation; you will not need as much "having fun" money, as you might expect..I will wager that you might go an entire evening without busting out the ole' pocketbook..don't tell anyone about that, though..we like to keep that a secret..and the Montana population down to a reasonable number..

Some info in here.

This fu*ker is right on the money.

Stay downtown if you can, hit the Mo Club and Reds bar for sure, if you show up earlier in the week try to hit the Lumberjack near Lolo Hot Springs.

Bring shine and it will be your passport to the homeland.

Just picture it. So I'm going through the TSA line at the airport.

They look at the multiple quart jars of clear liquid in my bag...

How many years in the federal penn will I be looking at, Five, Ten, or Fifteen?

Bring moonshine may be a nice thought, but carrying highly flamable liquids onto airplanes will likely be frowned upon even when it's explained it is just for Grizzly fans.
:ugeek:

I brought 4 quarts back from App St and had no problem. The TSA looked at them but still let me through.

BTW if any ASU fan wants to pre stock some shine through the mail/UPS I have an address where it can be sent and I will bring "most of it" to the game for you.

If you have not seen Glacier National Park then you must plan to take a day and drive through the park! It can not be explained, it must be seen! I live in Montana and it takes my breath away every time I see it. Just a thought!

True. I go every summer and it never gets old.
