2012 Big Sky Predictions?

In just over 6 months, the speculating and prognostications will start to play out on the field. As a Griz fan, I am already impatient for the 2012 season to get here. I have high hopes and expectations for my team and also some worries and concerns. While I think that UM, MSU, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington and Weber State will perform well, I'd be disappointed if the fans of North Dakota, Portland State, Southern Utah, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, etc. didn't share the same sense of optimism and excitement for the upcoming season...to me, that's part of being a fan year after year.. every year is a new opportunity and every team starts out 0 - 0...

Of course... it's just the some fans should have more optimism than others.

Cheney Community College fans? Now known as Eastern Washington? The one with the red field in a high school stadium? Not likely.

Seriously though, I'm predicting 11-0. We should be the favorite in every game (pending further developments, obviously ;) ), and the last time I predicted an undefeated regular season we did it :thumb:

Why? Every school's fan probably believes they will do well this season. Explain what makes the sue a good team this year.

I'm not saying they are going to win the conference or anything but I do believe that they will finish above where some people are putting them.

elaborate. Tell us more.

All of their offensive weapons will be returning and we will be getting a new QB from UNC. Our D-Line will be returning but we will be losing starters at linebacker and safety. I am okay with the linebackers because we have some players that got a good amount of playing time that will fill in nicely. And at safety we have some RS freshman who have been looked at highly that will be getting plenty of playing time but who knows how good they will end up. I just believe it is a lot of the same team just more experienced and our QB play last year was awful and we still managed to win 8 games granted it was in the Great West and against some (stupid) NAIA/D2 schools. I guess we will just have to let the year play out and see what happens.

You guys need to shore up your defensive backs. P-Walk and Lobato had a field day against your secondary during the game in Greeley.

And a recent national championship, unlike the DUI-M campus. :thumb:

And a more recent 6-5, unlike the UM campus.

Agreed completely. Our pass defense was atrocious last season.

I'm assuming that the transfer QB from UNC (North Carolina) that you've mentioned is one Braden Hanson, if not mistaken. Such as: http://www.tarheelblue.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/hanson_braden01.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that was mentioned as such < http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/01/09/1765471/unc-qb-braden-hanson-transferring.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Which is interesting, to say the least. But here I am assuming again, this because he is said to have played six games as a reserve QB for the North Carolina Tarheels last year (2011) < http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=58640&SPID=6399&DB_LANG+C&ATCLID=205372430&DB_OEM_ID-13500" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and is spoken about:.."and will play his final season at the University of North Dakota,"..which I'm assuming is next year, or 2012.

Well, if all that is true, I'd hate to rain on your parade there North Dakota but, unless they have changed the NCAA Rules and all that, the stipulated allowance for transferring from FBS to FCS is a requirement of at least "Two (2)" years of eligibility left. At least, that's the way it's been since the beginning of the 2006 season, if not mistaken. What some people might call the 'Swogger-Matt Gutierrez Rule," so to speak.

So just how is this Braden Hanson supposed to be playing for you guys if he only has one year of eligibilty left?..and an FBS transfer has to have two years of eligibility left in order to play for an FCS team.

Possibly he has graduated, and can transfer to any school of his choosing as long as the school he transfers too has graduate degrees in his chosen field.

I believe this is it. :thumb:

O.K. now I understand. My second link did state that Braden Hanson graduated from North Carolina in December. If he's already graduated, the NCAA does seem to take into consideration academics every once in a while; at least that's what they say. Interesting. 2007 Gatorade Player of the Year for North Carolina, if not mistaken.

The only safe prediction is that once again only two programs will draw an average of 10,000 per game.
