2004 Griz playoff run

It has been 20 years since coach Hauck’s first deep playoff run. This was when I first started following the team because of guys like Craig Ochs. What were your favorite memories of this team? One of mine is getting revenge for an earlier loss to Sam Houston State in the semi finals.

2004 was a great all time Griz team. So fun to watch and follow.

So many little things went wrong during that game, cost the Griz at National Title Game... WR wasn't out of bounds on a touchdown for the Griz, Drops, missed FG, penalties and the turf monster coming up (this was the biggest problem). That was a team that should have won it all in my opinion. Still one of my all time favorite Griz teams.

Missed field goal by a guy who would go on to be the all time leading scoring kicker in FCS history as well as have an 8 year career kicking in the 3 letter word pro league

I was 10 years old at the time and had not paid any attention to UM being out of state prior to watching this playoff run and became a fan.

I was at the SHSU revenge game. Sitting in the 4th row on the 45 yard line, West side. I brought KitKats and tossed em around after every score. I ran out before the end of the game with multiple large bags. I enjoyed the hell out of that one, good memory!

The first night game at Wa-Griz vs. New Hampshire. That night was magical. There’s a picture out there of the amazing sunset over the west side stands during the game.

Were you eating cold Mo Club burgers soaked in au jus at that tender age? You’re a lying dipshit with a giant ‘tell”.

I didn’t go to anywhere in Missoula including Mo Club until atleast 8 years later. The reason I was interested in this team in the first place is Craig Ochs is from the same area I grew up/lived at the time which doesn’t produce many great college football players. Craig Ochs to this day was the highest recruited player of my lifetime out of this area. His high school had a future NFL hall of famer in the 80s but that was before my time.

Talmadge's drop in the EZ was a killer as well as the mis-call on the sideline step near OB. With a couple more scores in the first half, JMU would not have been able to just pound it at us all second half.

Don Read once said that had Ochs had the OL that DD had, it would be his number retired. JMU had us overmatched at the line of scrimmage.
