2-Deep vs Central Washington

Congrats to Jaxon Lee making the two-deep at free safety as a true freshman. Up to 222 pounds, will be an animal with his speed.

Can't tell for sure from clips, but if he's an all-out hitter (and I think he is)... he's going to crush some running backs when he flies up in run coverage.

This is not an exhibition game. Both these two spring games are real NCAA games and the stats count.

Hauck took it even further this week by saying that even if he was playing you in chess he would still try to kick your ass. Enough said.

Quick thoughts from this fan:

- Kris Brown at #2 QB over a drop down and a juco is quite the eye-opener. We all know Bobby doesn't usually give such depth promotions to underclassmen so that's really got to say something about the kid.

- Welnel opening up as the other starting LB. Both him and Matthews have been waiting in depth for years, hope he makes the most of it.

- Belknap over McGourin... that's a surprise to me, not based on anything I've seen - just that I assumed McGourin would ascend to the job quickly. Not saying he won't... but that caught my eye.

- Keintz on the interior as a starter... quite the journey for this dude, hope he crushes it!

- Cole Grossman as the 2nd team Y-WR / TE... I hope he can show fans what some of us have been seeing in practice this last year.

- All new kickers/punter... that should be interesting.

- Flowers in the WR depth chart, hell yeah.

Brown is the reason a couple of us have been saying, since Rostad signed, that Rostad would play something other than QB at UM. I am not surprised Brown is #2 at this point.

I am surprised that you are suprised that a 5th year player, with multiple years as a starter at PAC 12 University of Arizona, would get the nod over a newbie like McGourin.

I agree with you on being excited to watch Grossman on offense!! 😃
