Good read on a High School Basketball Tourney being played this weekend in Reno. Some high powered teams with some high powered players. Me and my son are planning on going to a couple of sessions and I'll give you an update on the kids that have you will see in the Big Sky.

Update #1

The Northern Colorado recruit Justin Wesolowski got into early foul trouble and did not play a ton on minutes in the first half. He was whistled for 3 fouls in about 3 minutes. In the second half Mountain View was up so much that the starters where on the bench for the fourth quarter. He was on the floor he did not look to quick. His lateral movement was questionable as well. He is very slender and is going to need to get into the weight room to be a factor in the Big Sky. What the kid can do is shoot. He hit four shots in a row from the floor in the middle of the third from a variety of distances but none closer than 16 feet. He is the 3rd option on his team for sure as the Cal recruit and the UNLV recruit are both solid players.

The Northern Arizona recruit Keith Olson from Douglas is going to be very good in the Big Sky. He is 6-10 and 240. For a big guy he moves his feet well. He is physically ready to go to the next level right now. Keith's team Douglas played ACD from Florida. ACD has a kid named AJ Stewart who is Kentucky bound. Keith got AJ into foul trouble and AJ was never able to get into the game. How ever AJ did have a monster dunk where he picked up a loose ball at the top of the key, took one dribble took off from just below the free throw line and threw down an earth moving dunk.

I did have a chance to talk to Keith after his game. I asked him if Montana had shown any interest in him. He said they did recruit him a little bit but not like Northern Arizona did.

Artesia the team from Lakewood California is loaded. The kid that has committed to Arizona State is a tremendous athlete and he is the only Senior that starts Malik Story is a Junior, stands 6-5 and is a tremendous athlete. The top Sophomore in the country that they have is jaw dropping. He can run, shoot, jump and get physical under the basket. When this team took the floor they looked like a major college basket ball team.

My son and I are headed back today and hopefully I can get a better look at the Northern Colorado bound kid.
