The Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats announced an expanded Brawl of the Wild Rivalry series (GrizCat or CatGriz) extending to every sport between the two schools. We will post more information as we receive it.
What are your thoughts? Is this more reason to party? Is your liver screaming NOOOOOOOO? Or has it always been this way and they are just creating hype? Tell us below
More details about the announcement:
Brawl of the Wild will operate on a point system in which each school can earn a maximum of 25 points per year based on head-to-head competition between the Montana Grizzles and Montana State Bobcats in a total of 13 men’s and women’s sports. The university compiling the most points by the end of the school year will earn bragging rights to the specially designed traveling trophy. The first match up between the two schools this season will be women’s volleyball in Missoula on Oct. 21. Throughout the year, fans can visit the respective official athletic websites to track progress: www.gogriz.com or www.msubobcats.com.
“This certainly will add another level of excitement to an already passionate rivalry. Great rivalries are what make college athletics so special and unique, and the Montana-Montana State rivalry is definitely a great one,” said Haslam. “We’re grateful to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana and Town Pump Food Stores for their willingness to back the Brawl.”
