I haven't been this excited since the most recent exciting season in 2011, when the Grizzlies last reached the national semifinals.

The 2011 playoff run to the semi's was a fun one:

DEC 3 (SAT)
VS
CENTRAL ARKANSAS
W, 41-14

DEC 9 (FRI)
VS
NORTHERN IOWA
W, 48-10

DEC 16 (FRI)
AT
SAM HOUSTON STATE
L, 28-31

I am optimistic we are back, baby! Go GRIZ
72-39-5 against state

I'm with ya. I'm just not confident there will be anything resembling a season in 2020.

I agree. If this team can play this year especially with the new additions on defense it could be a fun one!

It will be a damn miracle if there is a season. The recent surge in cases is very troubling and does not bode well.

Deaths down 90% since April. New cases are mostly young people who are fine.

i keep reading this, but haven't seen a source that gives it any credence. is there one? the only thing i can find cherry picks data from single days in april vs june, and then extrapolates the data to make the claim you made

Daily average deaths ARE down markedly (but no where NEAR 90%). But deaths are a trailing indicator. Right now, we're reaping the benefit of all the hard work we did in April and May, as well as the excellent work by front-line doctors to find methods to decrease the effects of swelling in patients.

If the death numbers are still low in September following the ridiculous new case numbers we have now, I'll be more of a believer. But I'll be honest, I'm not overly confident in that.

And remember, attempting to flatten the curve was not all about preventing death. It was about preventing the destruction of our health care system, and about having a hospital bed to put you in should you need care. Ask the residents of Houston how they feel about that.

The only "normal" season I can see happening, is if schools decide to move the season to the Spring. Even then, what do you do with your opponents who do not move the season to the Spring? It's a giant mess. Too bad, for the first time in a while I was excited to see UNC play. A new coaching staff and all.

We will be more disappointed here; huge financial blow and the Griz are loaded.

Man, I gotta tell you that I'd love the season moved to the Spring. As a guy who likes to hunt, fish and hike the Fall is too damn full. I never miss the Griz games but often wish I was retired in the Fall so I could enjoy it all.

I think starting the season in crappy weather and having it slowly get nicer and nicer in the later weeks would be fantastic.
Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

I'm with ya on that. The fall is my favorite season outdoors and it always feels like I never have enough time between the mountains and football. January- April, on the other hand, is sorely lacking in comparison.

EWU was primed for a big sky comeback this year and had the Griz/Cats/vandals/Weber all coming to Cheney...we rarely get a schedule like that and now it looks like it probably won’t happen...

Hell, for all you guys know, you might be playing an all D2 schedule this year  jk. I actually feel really bad about everything that's happening with your guys' athletic department.

Weekly deaths have dropped for 11 straight weeks in the US. 7-day moving average has dropped steadily from 2251/day in mid-April, to just 581this week.

Cases began increasing on 6/17. So using your assumption, deaths should start climbing right....about....NOW.

Please tell me you’re smarter than being a member of the “just wait two weeks” club, EG.

Oh, and Houston is fine. Seriously. They are at 95% normal ICU capacity. Guess what they were 1 year ago? 97% capacity. Empty beds don’t pay the bills. 73% of their cases are NON-COVID cases. And they have the capacity to add beds/staff/floors beyond their current capacity...
