This is a well-thought out piece on Men’s Basketball. I would have had the same 11 but maybe switched a couple between first and second team, but not enough difference to call out. As always, I have a few quibbles:
1. Why use overall stats instead of conference only stats? In most cases there isn’t a lot of difference, but the differences in non-con strength of schedules in many cases is dramatic.
2. EWU and MSU deserve to have multiple spots, however, Battle is shooting 30% from 3 in conference (that’s with going 6-9 the last two games) averages 2.4 rebs and 0.6 assists. Venters averages 2.8 Rebs and 1.0. That’s the very definition of one-dimensional. And before people says Venters would be doing more on a lesser team, I would counter he could possibly be doing less due to the high percentage of his made baskets that are assisted (91% of his 3s). He needs creators and passers to be successful.
3. Here are Parker’s per 40 min conference stats this year and last year:
Mon - 18.2p/4.4r/5.5a - 50/36/80 %
PSU - 19.9p/5.4r/7.8a - 50/36/79 %
The only real difference in how he is being perceived is that he starts and plays almost 34mpg this year vs. coming off the bench and playing only 23mpg last year.
