Ryder Rice...

How the Fuc% is anything less than 100% admitted not the standard at UM right now? Seriously....100% of students applying who meet the minimum admittance standards should be admitted. Period.

They don't have the luxury to voluntarily reduce enrollment of any kind - undergrad or grad.

Bodnar better get his shit togeher and start realizing that this is not a university that has a football team attached to it but rather a football team that has a university attached to it.

All this integrity driven decision making and fulfilling the mandate of its charter is total bullshit.

Hard to argue with this at this juncture.

Maybe even expand some programs where the enrollment is not capped like PT, Pharmacy, Law School, etc. Move toward hight tech and aggressively seek donors for new programs, buildings. He probably realizes that, but the UM is in an arms race of sorts.

This. Any qualified student shouldn't be turned away from a state university that's at its smallest enrollment in three decades

No kidding. If students aren't allowed in because they might not use the degree in the way the department wants then half of UM students getting degrees in liberal arts degrees should be not allowed in. Not really a big job market for philosophers etc. Education department should have heads examined, grad student with good grades wants to be in their classes that have no enrollment caps and the stick their noses in the air and say no thanks. Pres should be meeting with all departments and explain the concept of ENROLLMENT

All of you might consider sending these posts to Bodnar. Opening admissions, and removing some department heads might have a significant impact on enrollment.

The University is not in need of more new buildings. It is already grossly overbuilt.

Fair enough. As long as they have the equipment and tech capabilities - so be it. Get new programs. If not, tear it down and build something that meets the modern students needs

I was sort of upset but he’s still going to be a Griz just confirmed on Twitter so everyone can relax.

Yes, overbuilt. The brick and mortar boom, especially in the “George” tenure left the university in a severe bonded, debt position. While some peer schools prepped for what happens after what happens next phase, UM intended on doing business as though enrollment would simply increase. The new admin seems to get it. Gonna take time, effort and growth pains fully righting ship.

This seems to be the current theme for the whole University, doesn't it?
Poor leadership swaths a wide path of destruction.

Sorry that's my lisdexia kicking in.

At this point the only answer for UM is to get creative. I would like to propose a one year graduate certificate program, The Vernon ‘Shootah’ Adams Colledge of Applied Mathematics at the University of Montana. This could be a catch-all alternative for graduate transfers who do not qualify for existing grad programs.

We could take a page out the cats playbook and purchase a small metal shed to house the program. I believe Sears is still honoring their 4th of July Shed Sale prices.

Problem fucking solved.

I'm assuming Educational Leadership is offered every school year in the actual (on site) classroom? My daughter is currently getting her masters for the same (online) and she said they only have it every other year when I was just speaking with her about it.

My guess is she meant just the online version?
