Heard he was making big bucks, like over a half million.

you heard? Another unsubstantiated claim. The current site for his Greek team Olympiacos lists Will as a 3rd string PG, so i am calling BS. Please click on the site below to see for yourself. Scroll down to depth chart.

Cherry was recruited to this team by the coach, who coached Will when he was with the Cavs. His signing and arrival received good press. While he has only played a few games due to his late arrival from the US, he is 3d on the team in minutes, is shooting 57%, and has 6 rebounds per game. Pretty good for a third teamer.

"Olympiacos beats AEK on the road in Cherry's debut game". Pretty nice headline for a 3d teamer. Ha.

My source was the UM Roundball Club, which, as everyone but apparently Zirg knows, is run by Travis.

Ah, yes. David Blatt. Coach of the Cavs when both the Cavs and his career got run over by the Warriors. His first year as head coach, 2014-15, the Cavs were up 2-1 on the Warriors, with the next game in Cleveland. The Cavs front line was killing the Warriors; the series seemed over, frankly. That's when the Warriors, acting on the suggestion of their video coordinator, went to the now-famous "death lineup"--no player taller than 6'7", Draymond Green playing the center position. The rest is history. The Cavs bigs could not adjust, got run off the court. Nor did David Blatt.

But my takeaway is this. I'd heard that David Blatt loved Will Cherry, especially his defensive tenacity, but that LeBron did not, knowing he needed more help than Cherry could provide, especially on offense. Just goes to show who was running that team. But it sounds like that cup of coffee with the Cavs has paid off for Will. Good for him.

Wait. I thought it was well established that the "death lineup" was Steve Kerr's genius....

I'll never forget that game because I was watching the score on the ESPN Gamecast in the middle of the night in Manchester, England. The Warriors started their small lineup, fell about about eight or ten points behind, called a timeout. But Kerr stuck with it, and the momentum turned quickly after that. So Kerr definitely gets credit for gutting it out when at first it looked like it wouldn't work.

But it was the video coordinator who suggested it--more "strength in numbers" from the Warriors.
