Day one of the con tourney. #3 Griz take on #6 UNC at 12:30 mt. Game should be on Pluto. If they win, they play ISU at 5:30. Lose and next game is tomorrow. Go Griz!

They are arguably the hottest team in the big sky coming into the tournament so let’s hope that continues!

Left a crap ton of runners on base, had some bad coaching decisions (imo), and failed to execute on some key opportunities.

yesterday the Griz got runners at first and second with one out. Their number eight hitter was up she bats .275. For some boneheaded reason the coach tried to have her bunt and get the runners in scoring position. Keep this in mind there was already a runner at second base and there was already one out. The next batter up was Petrino who is only hitting .165. Even if the bunt is successful you’re leaving it in the hands of your 165 hitter to hit them in. Instead the would be bunter fouls off the first pitch, squares to bunt and take strike two then strikes out on a terrible swing and then Petrino ground out gingerly to the pitcher, inning over. That was a terrible coaching call and she has done it often. This happened late in the game making it even worse

What made this even worse was they were down 1 to 0. You worry about getting the one runner across the plate to tie the game and that runner was already in scoring position. If I remember correctly she did the exact same thing last year in a key game.

You are correct! I don’t think you would find another coach or manager at a high level of ball who would have made that move. And yes she’s done it last year and earlier this year. I could maybe (a big maybe) understand it if say you’re best bunter was up to bat and you had Cami Sellers on deck. This was definitely not close to the scenario.
