Morgan Johnson! What a break-out month for her. Just knocks her 3rd homer of the weekend.
Maddy Stensby ties the game at 4-4 with a hard 2-rbi grounder up the middle.

Griz beat SUU 10-6 behind a 2-run homer by Morgan Johnson and a grand slam by Maygen McGrath. With the win, Montana finishes Big Sky conference play at 10-8, good for 3rd place and the 3-seed heading into toruney play. Griz get a complete game outing from soph pitcher Tristin Achenbach, who got the game's final out with a called strike K.

Really proud of these girls and super excited for Morgan Johnson. Offensively this team is en fuego. The pitching really needs to trim it in some but the bats will be what carries this team to tourney win.grizzlyjournal wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 2:02 pm Griz beat SUU 10-6 behind a 2-run homer by Morgan Johnson and a grand slam by Maygen McGrath. Griz get a great draw and (if win) miss Weber in the first two games

Coming in on a hot streak and playing some of their best ball, granted a lot of recent wins have come off lower tier or lower Big Sky competition. Hoping they can show up against tougher teams.

Maybe this is a stupid question. How is it that you have some teams playing an 18 game conference schedule (the Griz), a bunch that played 17 and Weber only played 16 conference games? Only in the BSC!!!!Paytonlives wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 4:35 pm Final Standings

Go Griz! Despite the talent and recent accomplishments of this year's Griz SB team, they're still very young. Tournament pressure cranks things up considerably. It'll be fun to see if they're ready to shake things up. I'm thinking they'll have something to prove.

Game on PSU and Sac (1-1 in 7th) is running late so Griz game will be delayed

Sac St seems to be in a funk the last couple weeks. They’ve had some good non-con wins but finished the con sched 1-5 losing twice to PSU(now 3 times) and getting swept by ISU. Letting PSU beat them on their home turf was a real big blow though. Let’s hope we can take care of UNC like we did 2 weeks ago.HookedonGriz wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2019 12:55 pm Wow 5 seed PSU beats 4 seed Sac St in game 1 scoring on a wild pitch in 11th.

Man this is where the coaching drives me crazy. Griz have one out and then back to back walks put runners at 1 and 2. We decide to try and bunt the runners over (knowing full well the gal on deck, Petrino, would struggle to score them anyways as she’s struggled with the bat). Our bunter fouls the frost one, watches strike 2, and then takes a bad swing and miss for strike 3. Now Petrino is up and grounds out softly to the pitcher to end the inning. I don’t see many people bunting runners over with 1 out and your weakest hitter on deck. That was dumb.

Another opportunity squandered. Got lead off batter on in bottom of 5. Petrino failed to bunt her over and popped out to 3rd. Next hitter hits into fielders choice. We get a 2 our double to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. They decide to pitch to sellers and struck her out. 1-0 going to top of 6
