But such an odd juxtaposition when compared with their dreadful FT shooting, which ranks in the 300s.

This is extremely encouraging.
First, it's a enough of a sample size to know that at the very least we have remedied a huge weakness from last year. If we can keep this up, we will be dangerous in a way we weren't last year.
Second, the two things that we are lagging in--free throw percentage and field goal percentage defense (152nd in the country at .426) are things that are fixable. I think. Especially the defense, a DeCuire specialty.
