One positive, in my estimation, is that I no longer have to read the resident self-proclaimed "expert" belittle other posters as to which young men who play quarterback for the two flagship institutions in the state of Montana have more "experience" or which school, in the state of Montana that is, have played the game before and to what level is relevant.

But, I am certain, there will be other threads started and the room full of economists, lawyers, arm-chair quarterbacks (especially those who played the game so their opinion is by default more credible...lol) Fox News or CNN leaning "other" information specialists can argue and belittle other posters who would actually like to discuss football. This site has its own Steven A. Smith!!!!
Dude......at least wait until he posts something before you start bashing :thumb:

Given the history???? Besides, I put one individual on "ignore" because of their incessant dumb posts.

Do you want my list of posters who make a lot of dumb poster? You could put them on Ignore too, and save yourself more time. I suppose you can't put yourself on Ignore, but it's a pretty good list.

Sorry. My history only goes back to March when I joined the site and I don’t always keep up with the running dialogue. Good luck with whatever it is you are trying to do with the preempted strikes though. Thanks carry on

Good for you. I'm a product of the MSU ROTC Detachment, for what it's worth. Branch, Infantry. 23 years of Commissioned Service. Part Assiniboine. I "played the game" so a sense of entitlement egotistical ass can talk about how tough he had it and ultimately look down his nose on others. I vaguely recall you are of like background and training.

Lawyers both as I recall. Carry on.

First and foremost, this is a sad situation for Murray and I really don't care for jokes about his academic performance or mental capabilities. The kid could have learning disabilities, family issues, etc. Give him a break. Sad that anyone would take joy in a kid struggling.
Secondly, I don't care who the Cants put under center. That player is going to have a pretty big learning curve. Anyone who has played the game and that position in particular understands the uphill battle the Cats will face this year. The Griz are in a much better situation, which amazes me. Bobby and staff pulled in two serviceable players to back up Sneed (if he is the guy) and they did it in a hurry.
Last, but not least - I predict the passing game will not flourish this year in Bozo. Choate and company will stay conservative and run the ball consistently. Their offense is going to struggle and they will be one dimensional. They have a good O line, but no experience at QB. Ground and pound
Actually the Cats have a very nice recent history with Freshmen QBs playing their first season and first Cat/grizz game. Particularly when their first game is in Missoula.

Unfortunately the Griz had a freshman DC who had his head up his ass as well. I am not sure that will be the case this year. DM would be the exception. He was damn good.

Lulay, McGhee and Murray all won in Missoula as freshmen. Not sure the Semore narrative that's often called upon over here holds any water. Now I'm wondering if any freshman QB for the Cats have ever been beat in Missoula.

Correct, but there is one other statistic of relevance. UM had new coaching staff's for all three freshman QB wins. Lulay - Bobby's first year, McGee was Pflugrad's first year and Murray was Stitt's. Will this year be the same? Doubtful, especially given the Grizzly DC this year. We don't know if the Cats will have a freshman QB either, but whoever it is - Semore will not be in charge. To answer your questions - hell yes the narrative called upon is correct. How many passes were thrown in the two losses by the Griz? Semore was a riverboat gambler and a bad one.

Prukop was the QB in Stitt’s first year, but the last two losses were definitely on Semore’s lack of ability to get his defenses to stop the Cats on 4th and 1,239. Got to give Choate props though, he had those two cat teams fired up. Can’t say the same about Stitt and our team.

You are correct about Prukop. Good catch on my error. You will get no disagreement from me on Choate and intensity. I will not defend Stitt. I ate so much crow over that guy. I crapped black feathers for a month straight.

I still think he'll never see the inside of a classroom at MSU nor the football field at the settling pond again in a 'Scat uniform.

Hey me too man. I’m 20 today. Happy birthday and Go Griz!

Time to chime in on this. The cats are definitely going to hurt this season without Murray. There’s no doubt in my mind that Murray helped that team win football games, like cat-Griz in 2016. So now I ask this, I don’t think the Griz will have near the trouble defending the cats as they did with Murray, but who would you guys like to see as the cats qb this season? I don’t know enough about them to make a decision.

I just remembered Bob Cole joined the MSU staff this past spring as passing game coordinator. That chain smoking cat (along with Drew Miller) was responsible for a very good passing attack at Montana during the 1999 season. He should be able to breathe some passing life into their offense. However, I still think Choate's identity will be to run early and often and with younger/inexperienced quarterbacks that makes even more sense.

None of their back ups scare me in the least. Not one has taken a D1 snap to this point. The one guy who could be dangerous and would make me a little nervous is Troy Andersen, Just because he's such an athlete. He truly doesn't throw the ball any better than Murray and never was a throwing QB. But the dude can run, is very fast, and is way more powerful than Murray. I also think the smarts that affected Murray in the classroom transcended onto the gridiron with his struggles with reads and decision making. I think Andersen would be a big upgrade on that front as he's very intelligent. So he's the only one who would make me a little nervous. I think they could plug him in and not miss a step if they wanted to do exactly what they've done the last couple of years from an offense of standpoint. However I think they want to get their running game evolved and a little bit more of a passing game and not rely so heavily on quarterback runs and by plugging Troy in, I'm not sure if that becomes any better than what they've had

Well, I guess if you withdraw from school, I suppose technically you don't need to be listed as "academically ineligible." *shrug*

Or if you have a coach that genuinely holds kids responsible and manages the challenging situations proactively, the semantics don't matter. *shrug*
