He could play behind Malatare..

One of OSU assistant coaches is in the running for the Carrol head coach job...Seems that would be a good fit, and he wouldn't have to sit out a year.

Heard he is talking to the Griz, Cal State Fullerton, and Hawaii. Also, that he doesn't have much interest at the time dropping down to a lower division. Would be an interesting fit for us. Not a huge need at the SG position but you never know.

Does he have to sit out a year or will he be eligible right away? If he does have to sit out a year how would that work since he's already redshirted? Would he lose a year of eligibility and have only 1 year to play?

I'll throw this out there from my brethren at Bobcat Nation so correct me if he is wrong..

"Kendal is in a difficult situation. He is just finishing out his sophomore year at OSU and has two years of eligibility, BUT he has already used his redshirt year at OSU. If he transfers to a D-1 school under current rules he will need to sit out a year and thus have only one year of eligibility remaining. If he wants to play two years he may need to transfer to a D-2 or NAIA school where he will not need to sit out a transfer year. One possible chance to go D-1, play right away and retain both years of eligibility would be if the NCAA adopts the proposed rule change next June that would allow D-1 players a one time transfer to another D-1 school with-out penalty (ie sitting out a transfer year). As I have said before though, the majority of coaches seem to be against this rule change, so I am not sure if it will have the votes (AD's are the ones that actually vote."

Unless he graduated, he’s is going to have sit out a year so he will have only one year to play. I think it’s a good bridge considering what we lose after this year.

He had a broken leg his first year and redshirted. The ncaa usually gives a medical redshirt in the situation he is in now (transferring).

So chances are good the ncaa will make his Frosh year a medical redshirt and next year a regular redshirt.

So he redshirts next year and has 2 years as a Griz.

That’s about a 90 percent possibility.

I don't love this.

Thanks for the solid, informational post. It is a great addition to the thread.

It's a good addition. He will add some shooting and played solid D at the Pac12 level. Got stuck behind the Thompson brothers in the depth chart at OSU, but played well when he came off the bench. As Payton mentioned, it is likely that he gets 2 years. Would be surprised if he wasn't starting 2 years from now. Will at the very least be a part of the rotation and play significant minutes.
