We can`t have a Kennesaw post above ALLATOONA PLAYOFF POST, Plus I know Y`all hate everything Paulding ESPECIALLY East paulding... GO BUCS ROLL OVER winder-barrow!!!!

So there are 3 teams That are BIG favorites in this bracket. Stephenson is on the other side so don`t worry. The other 2 superior teams are Mays and Houston Co. The bad news is they are in same quarter as Allatoona. Mays will play Houston Co in 2nd rd,And if our BUCS win their first 2 they would be big underdogs to either won. Houst has a Georgia qb who is big and impossible to tackle. Moving the ball for Allatoona could be difficult. 2of the 3 elite are in our side of the bracket. Mays vs HC some say is the real title game. There is a road block. Our ALLATOONA BUCS are not afraid and are LASER FOCUSEd on boise state better known as Winder Barrow. Time to jump on these guys early and wear em out!!! GO BUCS!!!!!

ACWORTH — Allatoona ran for 417 yards and rolled to a 52-3 victory Winder-Barrow in the first round of the Class AAAAA playoffs on Friday.

The Buccaneers (10-1)will host Starr’s Mill (10-1) next Friday in Round 2. The Panthers won their first-round game over Northside-Columbus, 49-0.

The Buccaneers got a game-high 184 yards rushing from reserve Brandon Archibald. Starting running back Russell Halimon injured his right knee on his second carry and didn’t return to the game. His status for next week will not be known until early in the week.

“Archibald stepped up big for us (Friday),” Allatoona coach Gary Varner said. “Our offensive line played well. No one showed panic when Russell was hurt.”

Charles Anderson also came off the bench and ran for 92 yards. Fullback Jalen Parrish ran for 30 yards and three touchdowns.

“I’m happy with both sides of the ball and we’ll continue to get better for next week,” Varner said.

Allatoona quarterback Brandon Rainey finished with 69 yards of total offense and two touchdowns.

“We had a good week of practice and our line played well,” Rainey said. “We’ll have to stay focused on our jobs to advance in the playoffs.”

After Winder-Barrow took a 3-0 lead on Nyky Barnes’ 28-yard field goal, the Allatoona defense held it scoreless the rest of way. Buccaneers defensive back Raleigh Webb had two interceptions. Winder-Barrow finished the game with 224 yards of total offense.

“They run a no-huddle offense and the first series defending that is always tough,” Varner said. “Once we understood the speed of the game, the kids played well.”

“We adjusted to their offense and I was able to read the quarterback and his throws,” Webb said.

Leading 38-3 at the half, third-quarter touchdown runs from Parrish and Anderson sealed the victory.

Cece Green had a team-high 96 rushing yards for WInder-Barrow.

Allatoona jumped out to an early 7-3 lead on its first possession of the game when Rainey ran up the middle from 2 yards for a touchdown.

Allatoona outscored Winder-Barrow 28-0 in the second quarter to take a 38-3 lead at halftime. The touchdowns came on two rushing scores by Parrish, a 13-yard run by Archibald and a 30-yard catch by Brady Eeles from Rainey.

Archibald finished the first half with 138 rushing yards. The Buccaneers had 244 rushing yards in the first half.

This past week in Acworth,Ga. a teenager lost her life in a stabbing from another teen. The Acworth community has heavy hearts and I would like us to take a moment to send some healing to their community. Acworth is and will be struggling for awhile for this senseless event.

Our Allatoona Bucs will be challenged this week by Starr`s Mill. For the third year in a row our BUCS will try to make a run at less than 100%. Halimon was lost for the year on 2nd play of Rd 1 win. I wish we could see how well a healthy BUCS team could do. Archibald will be the RB and is quicker but he is not as much of a wear down back as Halimon. I like Allatoona to get to the elite 8.

Thank you all for your Acworth,GA concern... home of our BUCS

And there will be a lot more!!!!! It was 7-7 at the half. Bucs surge to 21-7 lead.. Then with 8:03 left TD starr`s mill 21-14. Then a CLUTCH 6 minute fg drive put our BUCS up 24-14, Pick 6 wraps it up 30-14 WIN!!!!!Allatoona moves to the elite 8!!!!!!!! SO no Holimon ,left gurd and cb hurt but will play in elite...

That Brings us to the most favored team of this tourney Houston County. Our Mighty BUCS will be a HUUUGE underdog as HO CO has Bama QB UGA WR and oline that has 290+ on every single lineman. Our Bucs need to shorten the game and make a play to win it... Should be interesting

You must dig deep look at my name to find out why we care.... Allatoona BUCS are an 8ish year old HS football team that overachieves every single year. Hopefully we can watch em this week but at least listen to our BUCS shock the world in the elite 8 vs the overwhelming favorite of the bracket. Our best player Holimon RB is out for the year(You can watch him next year at Arizona)

Houston County's opponent in the third round of the GHSA Class AAAAA playoffs might be a relatively young program, but it's no stranger to success.

Allatoona is in its eighth year of existence and its sixth season playing football at the varsity level, all under head coach Gary Varner. The Buccaneers have advanced to the quarterfinals in four of the past five years, playing in the semifinals for the first time in program history last season, when they fell to eventual champion Northside 30-21.

"We've had some good success," Varner said. "(Allatoona) is in a nice area. The kids really work hard, and there's a lot of community support, which is nice. My staff has been with me the whole time, for the most part, which is a big advantage now. I don't think people predict a lot from us a lot of times, but the kids just play hard and kind of overachieve, I think."

This year's edition of the Buccaneers (11-1) enters Friday's contest on an 11-game winning streak after dropping its opening game. Allatoona outscored Starr's Mill 23-7 in the second half a week ago to cruise to a 30-14 win.

Offensively, the Buccaneers incorporate a ground-heavy attack out of a traditional I-formation that averages 296.5 rushing yards per contest. Allatoona doesn't throw the ball often but shows a knack for the big play, led by the arm of quarterback Brandon Rainey, who averages more than 18.0 yards per completion.

The Buccaneers have good size on the perimeter, as well as at tight end, where Vanderbilt-bound senior Turner Cockrell offers a 6-foot-5 target.

"We're run first and then play-action-pass type of stuff," Varner said. "We feel like, for the most part, that if we can get the advantage of running the ball well, that we can catch (opponents) overplaying the run, and then we can pass the ball pretty effectively when we do throw the ball."

One key piece likely missing from the Allatoona offense will be running back Russell Halimon, who is committed to Arizona. The senior is expected to miss his third straight game with a right knee injury after rushing for 1,543 yards.

"He's probably not going to be able to play," Varner said. "He got hurt before the playoffs started and just hasn't come around yet. We've played two games without him, and it's probably going to be a third, but it will be a game-time thing."

The Buccaneers have responded well to the loss of Halimon as several players have stepped up in his absence.

They rushed for 417 yards in an opening-round playoff win over Winder-Barrow and followed that performance with a 239-yard output against Starr's Mill. Brandon Archibald led the Buccaneers with 189 yards against Winder-Barrow, but it was Charles Anderson who paced the attack a week ago with 101 yards on 13 carries.

Those two will look to have success against a Houston County (11-1) defense that Varner believes is hard-hitting and athletic.

"They're very physical and very fast on defense, which kind of jumps out at you," Varner said.

The Bears' size on offense against what Varner described as an undersized defensive unit for the Bucs also gives him concern. Allatoona runs a base 3-3 stack and can utilize different blitz schemes with zone concepts behind that.

"Offensively, they're very explosive," Varner said. "Their line is very big, and they just do a good job of protecting what they do. The size at receiver and the skill positions is pretty unusual for high school."

And NONE in the elite 8. Listen to our BUCS try to SHOCK THE WORLD 5:30 pm Friday http://georgiaprepsportsnetwork.com/
