2011 Griz Football Recruiting List

Here is some info on some recruits who have reportedly been offered by Montana.

Brett Hundley 6’4” 210 Dual-Threat QB Chandler, Arizona (Chandler) (4 star recruit)
-8th ranked dual threat quarterback in the country. 4 star prospect and ranked #216 overall by rivals.com. The Griz have no chance at getting him but it’s pretty cool that he still listed Montana as a school of interest. He has pretty much narrowed down his list to Arizona, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Washington.

Keith McGill 6’4” 215 S Norwalk, California (Cerritos Junior College)
-Big time junior college recruit. Visited Oregon State and USC this month, but received no offers from either school. Reported offers are from Montana, New Mexico, San Diego State, and Utah. However he is beginning to get looked at by other PAC 10 schools after reportedly running the 40 in the 4.4 range at 6’4” and 215 lbs. Griz are most likely a long shot with this safety recruit. I have not read any articles where he comments on Montana other than him saying that we have offered him.

Danell Miles 6’0” 190 S Goodyear, Arizona (Desert Edge) (2 star recruit)
-We appear to have a great chance at getting Miles. His only reported offers are from Montana and North Dakota State. He has some impressive highlight tapes. He kind of reminds me of a young Colt Anderson in that he really attacks the line of scrimmage out of the safety position and has great closing speed. Big hitter who plays the game with bad intentions. There is one clip where he de-cleats a TE who was probably 3 inches taller and 40 pounds heavier. Would love to get Miles.

Shaq Jenkins 6’0” 265 DT Chandler, Arizona (Hamilton) (2 star recruit)
-Played defensive end this last season but is projected as a defensive tackle prospect. He is a high energy player and has great closing speed for his size. Highlights of him throwing blockers to the ground and chasing down running backs from behind. He has offers from Montana, North Dakota State, and Northern Arizona. This kid will probably get looked at more by the bigger schools but it looks like we’ve been going after him hard.

Eddie Kelly 6’1” 315 DT Santa Monica, California (Santa Monica JC)
-Not much information to report on this guy. Offers from Bethune-Cookman, Montana, and Stony Brook.

Reggie Gilbert 6’3” 230 Strong side DE Laveen, Arizona (Fairfax) (3 star recruit)
-Looked like we were in the mix with Gilbert for awhile until he recently got an offer from Arizona. His other offers are WAC and Mountain West schools. We are most likely a long shot for Gilbert.

Diondre Toms 6’1” 175 DB Renton, Washington (Lindbergh)
-This kid is definitely interested in the Montana. His only reported offers are from Montana and Portland State. He is receiving more and more attention from WAC schools and Washington State after performing very well playing cornerback at camps around the Pacific Northwest. Here is a quote from WashingtonPreps.com “ Recently he was contacted by Montana. After reviewing his film and his accomplishments he was offered a chance to play for the mighty Grizzlies. ‘That is a great program and somewhere I could definitely play. I will be going to their camp in July and getting to know them and the campus better, said Diondre, “I am really looking forward to that.”

THANKS... Hope we get him 6'3" 4.43!!!!

Hell, I thought one of y'all's main complaints about moving to Division 1 was that y'all wouldn't have the Montana boys anymore. But I counted only five Montana boys on that list out of 83. That's only 6%. I just read another deal that said Boise and Idaho only had somethin' like 24% and 14% Idaho boys. Now, I know y'all have more Montana boys than they have Idaho boys right now, but if I didn't know any better, it looks like the people doing the recruiting are trying to change that even without moving to Division 1. What am I missin', boys?
