I posted this in another thread, but I think it fits here as well:

...I really don't see many players leaving, with maybe the exception of one or two, this is a team that could be 10 deep easily for next year. Easy to get excited about next year when you consider what you have seen out of Beasley, Whitney, Bannan, and others in spurts this year. Egun looked aggressive in his mop up duty last night. The cupboard is hardly bare.

What makes me excited is that technically, this is a "zero" year. All of these freshman getting significant playing minutes will still be considered "Freshman" next basketball season by the NCAA. Another thing I thought was interesting in the TDC zoom call where he talked about transfers was that with the weirdly structured season plus a HOST of new faces, it is really difficult to put a full game plan in.

The game plan is put in, but because they aren't able to spend as much time on it, the younger players have a more difficult time adjusting a bit on the fly to what the opposing offense is throwing at them. The more experienced teams while maybe a little less "athletically" talented are doing better because they can adjust more quickly than a roster made of Freshman getting big minutes during games.

Yes, UM has talented underclassmen, but other BSC schools do as well. UM has good shooters who don't shoot, no one to rebound, and no strong middle. The coaching staff needs to find a pair of "big men" or it will be yet another "wait till next year" season.

Since this is a free year for everyone, how will another year's experience help us overcome Weber & EWU? Unless they have some current players that choose not to continue for another year.

Well Shantay Legans might take a bigger job. He’s gonna be in high demand this offseason.

So here’s a quick breakdown of all BSC Fr by team. Teams are in order of current BS standings.
Numbers include total Games Started(gs) and total minuets(m) for each team and the percentages that the Fr have contributed to those numbers. Remember this is not taking into account the Sr numbers for each team. There’s a very distinct trend here. If I get more time, I’ll figure up the Sr numbers also, and I’d be willing to bet, we’d see the same trend. Just some food for thought. I also didn’t account for any Fr that have left their teams.

Yes LA, other schools may have talented Fr but few are relied upon to make any significant impact on their teams. As you can see from my above post, save MSU’s Patterson and PSU’s Dawson, few others are major contributors to their team, unlike Montana where all three of our Fr our heavily relied on to be leaders, something few Fr are required to do. As for the big men, Bannan’s gonna get there and Owens and MCH will only get better at handling their own. Yes, this years been a dump but there’s plenty of silver lining to it.

An experienced core of players matters which is why EWU etc are having success. We can hope that no matter how rough this season is, that the core of the UM team learns a lot and works on what they need to for next season. I am not saying that this helps them overcome EWU and others, but it definitely won't hurt. And for as bad as this season has been, they realistically had a chance in every BSC game except the EWU series.

That's what I was getting at with my post about the zero year.
