A Deserved Tribute to Travis DeCuire

Coach DeCuire was honored at last night's Montana-North Alabama football game as the traditional #37 pre-game flag ceremony. Well-deserved and a sign of cross-sport recognition and cameraderie.

Hearty congrats, Coach!

It's possible that this kind of cross-sport recognition has always taken place, but it seems to have become more public in recent years. I know that -- starting with Wayne Tinkle's program -- hoops coaches and players have often been very upfront about their support of other programs (not just football, but volleyball and Lady Griz hoops as well). Last year, coach Hauck was in attendance at most, if not all Griz hoops games. Last night's recognition took things up a notch, and Griz fant noticed and voiced loud appreciation to coach DeCuire and to the Montana basketball program. A good sign.

back in the days of the Zoo it started with the football team. they sat in the first couple of rows. on more occasions than I can recall we would rush the field house doors as soon as they opened only to find the football team waiting for us!
