Montana earned a 3rd seed at the tourney with a 9-2 con record and a 12-5 overall record. They’ll be playing the 6th seed Southern Utah on Thur and if they win, they’ll move on to face NAU, a team that beat them 6-1 in Flagstaff earlier this year. Montana did knock off the preseason favorites and #1 seed Idaho Vandals 5-2 in Missoula so they are expecting to make a good run. This will also be a big tournament for four of the seven Grizzlies who will be ending their collegiate career this weekend as Sr’s.

Extremely hard fought 4-3 win for the Griz vs SUU. Now tomorrow they get a chance to avenge their regular season loss to NAU in the semis. With #1 Victor Casadevall losing the opening singles match in straight sets and SUU taking the doubles point, the Griz found themselves down 2-0 right away. Then the Griz took the next three points before SUU won the 2nd to last match to make it 3-3 and put it in Sr Ignacio Tejerina’s hands with his 3rd set tied up 3 a piece. He then rallied to win the next 3 points to send the Griz to the semis.

Tomorrow’s match in Phoenix will be tuff though. The Griz lost to the #2 seed NAU 6-1 just over 3 weeks ago a little over 100 miles north in Flagstaff. Hopefully the Griz can regroup tonight and come out tomorrow and take care of business against em.
