Davis beats Weebs on any field 9 out of 10 times. Until Gube returns - the same goes for EWU.

Spud State loses a tough game to both Davis & this last weekend against Liberty & beat UND & should be ranked & ahead of UND.

Weber's defense beat Gubrud in Cheney last season while holding Eastern Washington to their 3rd lowest point total in 2017 only the National Champion Bison and BCS Texas Tech held them to less. They also beat this exact same QB/WR combo in Maier and Doss from UC Davis 41-3 last year.

Granted this was last year but Weber is only missing 3 starters from last year's defense which if you ask me hasn't missed a step. The offense has been off, but they've shown to be capable of moving the ball and scoring points.

Anybody can say someone would beat someone 9 out of 10 times, but until it happens and it's proven, that kind of talk means nothing. Weber under Hill has continually proven people wrong.

Finally had some time to look over this week’s poll. I did pretty well with my earlier guesses, but among the exceptions were some doozies.

The fact that East Tennessee State hung on at #25 is not all that surprising. Their (6-2) record looks pretty good where it sits, and maybe deserves a bit higher spot.

I predicted that #5 Jacksonville State, #6 McNeese and #14 Sam Houston State might be punished even more than my guesses did. Well, J-State and McNeese did drop one more than I had predicted (not a huge difference). But the pollsters absolutely crushed SHSU … dropping them nine slots. That hardly ever happens. That and their (already) 4-3 record does not bode well for their future.

The pollsters also pounded #16 Maine more than I expected. I dropped them a “standard” five after their road loss, by a TD, to an unranked opponent. The voters hammered them down eight spots (another unusual drop). Not sure what that was all about. Perhaps they feel William & Mary is even worse than their (3-4) record, so Maine must have been over-rated before. For me, that’s a head-scratcher.

The Northern Iowa upset of #2 South Dakota State shows how inconsistent the pollsters can be. As I guessed, the loss did not hurt SDSU that much. And I figured UNI would move up … some. The pollsters jumped them eight spots, which is almost unheard of. So now we have a (4-3) team sitting at #17, right in among a block of teams with five or six wins. Hmmm …
