Not sure what to think of his past positions, and would be for his hiring. However, kind of does make me wonder why he moves on so often? I cannot judge the guy for myself, being I have never had a conversation with him. Only thing I know is he has been part of very good offenses over the years.

Pflugrad has never been a head coach? That scares the hell out of me-they should go after someone who actually has been successfull as a HEAD COACH. Their is a big difference between being a receivers coach and a head coach. I think the guy from Central Washington, or Van Diest would be a more secure hire than someone who has never held the head job. I hope they don't hire this guy based on him being a "good wide receivers coach".

I do like Hauck-Robin Pflugrad has been on the staff one year correct? I don't know ANYTHING about this guy other than what Payton listed above. I think they should hire a proven head coach period.

Read Hauck's history and think about what you are saying in comparison.

Bobby was a head coach somewhere first, before he came here, right MoreGooder? :thumb:
I just can't remember where?

It took Hauck a year to adjust to head coaching IMO-he was twice the coach this year as he was his first year here. The learning curve is less with a guy who has actually been behind the reins before. I really did like coach Hauck-going to miss his Bobcat hating demeaner.

I can only guess you are new to Griz football if you don't know much about Robin.
Nope not so much-I watched the first game ever played at WGS-what do I need to know about Robin Pflugrad? Why would he be the BEST choice to replace coach Hauck? If you can't answer these questions maybe should ask YOURSELF why?

The UM offence this year averaged around 37 PPG... I think you can add 7 to that if Robin is Hired.

Yea!!! Payton finally gets it. This has been the point the whole time during Bobby's tenure. And last years 37ppg was the exception rather than the rule for Griz offense under Hauck. THAT and his thug recruiting is why I'm glad he's gone.

Dumb Dumb,
Hauck was not a head coach before the Griz that's the point they are trying to make and you seemed happy with him.

The initial post and several other comments focusing on recruiting make a good point. However, you can hire a recruiting coordinator. We need a head coach.

Does anyone know why, with this resume, Robin was not retained when one of his fellow assistants got the head job?

Stop the rumormongering. This dissing of candidates is crap.
Lets try to keep this focused on UM's needs and candidates strenghs and not dwell on rumor and innnuendo
Grizznation ought to have enough class to keep potential coaches' reputations intact until the HC is announced, OK?

Plugard would be great, most of the others mentioned here would too.

Im curious as well. Also about why he bounces around so much.

I also agree about the recruiting part and that should not be an issue with the HC.

Everyone who has a problem with the Griz's offense they need to look at the OC. Phenicie blows!!! My buddy's name on here is "Ihaterobphenicie" and it's for a reason!!!

Im not a Hauck lover by any means, but he was a special teams coach for Christ's sakes!!! Sure he "made the calls" but it was Phenicie who called the plays every game. The only finger to point at Hauck is that he let it happen for so long.

I worked for MVD at Carroll and he let Nick Howlett call the plays and very rarely got involved on offense. And that's what a good HC should do. He made the calls of whether to go for it on 4th and 1 or whatever, but you know damn well that Howlett was in his ear convincing him one way or the other.
