Absolutely they do. I don't know all of them off of the top of my head, but there have been multiple penalties for academics in the past few years. Akron just got a post season ban, for one.
I know one thing coaches do look at with kids with borderline GPA’s are their last couple years of high school. If they are on an upward trajectory they take that into consideration.

Mother (Lisa) was a former 49s cheerleader, father (Jeff) was sentenced in 1999 to 3.5 yrs for sex crimes committed while he was a high school math teacher/coach, and was also sentenced in to 2.5 years in 2015 for embezzling $400k from his employer.

He was indeed a Graduate transfer with 2 years of eligibility. He attended Syracuse prior.
Correct. He earned his degree from Stanford and entered the portal as a graduate transfer.
