Spring game?

An egriz poster's texts to me:

"Hashim Jones is going to be a stud. He and Eli will be be a helluva combination.

24 Eckland transfer LB looks really good, as does 48 Styles Goodman.

Looks like big TE Rohrer who transferred from Tennessee a year ago is getting the ball more. Used mostly as a blocker last year looks like he’s lighter.

No Ah Yat or Flowers.

Kid from Carroll can play. Has some swagger."

Sat a lot of players including top two QB’s. It is really hard to evaluate but a few of my impressions. Offensively Hashim Jones is going to be a stud. Cook kid from Red Lodge and WSU transfer Paine and Ridgeway all look like they could contribute. Monte Gilman lined in backfield and looked good carrying the ball. Hard to tell with receivers but Legend Lions looks like an athlete. Rohrer like hoops said was lined up in slot and looked good running routes. Looks great physically. Reese Brooks TE transfer from Cal Poly looks real athletic and got an earful from Phenicie which in my mind means he’s expected to play. Grady Walker looks like a perfect TE. Defensively they mixed things up but players that stood out to me were Tyler King transfer from Central Washington and redshirt Freshman Cooper Buffington look very athletic. Bunch of LBs looked good especially Elklund. Stroud made some plays and looked good. But the guy I really liked was Orlandi the transfer from Carroll. Griz fans are going to love him. Super intense and confident. Also Silver kicked a 52 and 48 yard FG. Which is awesome. Overall I liked what I saw.

Loved Ecklund, Styles, Orlandi on defense.

Hendrix had a solid game. Finch got a few receptions as well. Legend Lyons with a beautiful TD reception in the NEZ.
Davis, Hendrix, Lyons are going to be quite a trio. Bridges saw a few passes his way. I think he loses focus easy. Looks like he's trying to make a play before securing the ball. Once he gets past it all, the kid has potential.

Schweikert was better than I expected at qb. If he's our 3rd string qb, qb position will be terrific. OL run blocking was solid was better than pass protection.

Unfortunately, Hanks didn't play.
I think he's still recovering from injury.

Great to be there though.

Who were the starting o lineman and how did they look? Who's the #1 center? If Grady is as good as his dad then he will be awesome. His dad wasn't the fastest reciver back in the day but he was a great route runner and never dropped any balls. How did the defense look? What was the base defense they ran?

It was a great spring evening in Wa-Griz with a great crowd. Two defensive players that stuck out to me were the two new safeties Orlandi and Fall. Maroon D was fun to watch fly around the field.

On the offensive side, I am really looking forward to seeing Hashim Jones carry the rock in combination with Gilman. That will be quite the combo. Legend Lyons showed why he was highly touted as well. The backfield and receiver corps looks to be in great shape. And I love the fact a ton of Montana kids were utilized heavily tonight.

I ran into Drew Almquist (future WR) and his parents, who were fun to talk to after the game for a minute. I also have to just mention how great it is to still have Eli Gilman here and appreciating his time in Missoula. He is one heckuva guy.

I like hearing that Orlandi stands out and has swagger. That position needs someone with swagger and isnt afraid to mix it up.

We don't have the personnel to field a winning offensive line. We have not had that in years. From the time BK took over he has made it even more clear. Getting a few 300 pounders that are 100 pounds of fat is not the answer.
