Soccer Citowicki leaving for Wazzu?

He has a roster problem, already has 28 players which is the max he can have due to WSU opting into the NCAA House settlement, he can't add any spring transfers or uncommitted players without cutting someone. Like I said before the 2026's that stayed are a lot better than some of the players that went over. Get your popcorn ready will be interesting on how the season plays out.
I do hope the rest of the 2026 class stays committed to UM. I see 5 are listed on 2026 roster already. https://gogriz.com/sports/womens-soccer/roster?sort=class

As a parent of two (hopefully soon to be 3) college athletes- I can tell you that in any sport, no matter how talented - freshmen have a steep learning curve. They are usually not ready physically or mentally to compete with players 2-3 years older & wiser. The jump to Div 1 from HS is immense.
So when you say things like these 2026/27 players are better than the ones that left, be careful.
The future may be bright, but we need some quality upperclassmen out of the portal ASAP

Question 1-they all count to the 28 player limit.
17.2.2.3 Exception -- Season Ending Injury or Illness Before Roster Submission Date. A student-athlete who sustains a medically documented, season-ending injury or illness before the sport’s roster submission date may continue to use institutional facilities and resources for rehabilitation purposes and may participate in practice activities, when medically cleared, during the academic year without counting in the sport’s roster limit. The student-athlete may not participate in competition that is considered in individual or team selections for postseason opportunities and may not participate in postseason competition. Application of this exception shall be administered by the member conferences. (Adopted: 6/23/25 effective 7/1/25, Revised: 10/2/25)

Not sure why that post showed up with the strike-through the text, but a player put on the SEI list before the deadline does not count.

From what I understood from the players is that the injured ones were guaranteed not to be cut but the roster still could not exceed 28.
That is what they were told by the coaching staff. Who knows though. Some football player just needs to file a lawsuit and it will change again.

The FOUR cuts (Anderson, Johnson, Stendera and Smith) were around November 20 (that’s when a friend texted me about it anyway)… all four were offered to stay through spring and opted to leave. Why are you saying 5 and trying to make it worse? So much for SpeakingFactsOnly

Ole Miss announced Todd’s hiring December 1. So WSU job was open more than 10 days after the cuts were made. Was he supposed to be a mind reader. Was he never supposed to make any decisions just in case a new job presented itself??? With the upcoming roster limitations he was going to have to make cuts. Everyone knows that. Waiting until after Spring Season would make it worse for cut players… and had Chris stayed he was likely going to have to make more cuts after Spring or ask some 2026 to delay enrollment (which coaches sometimes do).

If a coach is an all around terrible guy, I don’t think 10 players would follow him… with another willing to follow him (but made another choice based on academics and other factors outside of soccer). No coach is always going to be liked for every decision… someone is always going to have hurt feelings, think their kid is the best, etc. It’s a business and UM admin did this by all their broken promises

At this point, I would take the “too-many” player problem :-) but hopefully the opportunity to play right away will attract some Spring portal players to Griz.

At WSU, Chris definitely has room to cut some forwards - 11 on current 2026 Coug roster. Also has 4 GKs in the 28.

Question for the experts: Do injured/LTIR players count against the NCAA 28 player roster limit? Chris took two Griz who may not be game-ready by Fall (ACL repair). There are also 2-3 original WSU players that are in same boat and opted to continue rehab in Pullman thru Spring - but will they stay?
Question 2: Would Gore/Griz nation be open to players returning to the fold or too awkward?
Yes injured players count against the 28 player cap. As far as players coming back depends who it is.

Anyone on this forum met Stuart Gore yet? Just wondered if anyone out there has interacted with him?
Coach Gore will be on the Grizfan pod cast tomorrow you can go on Twitter and message your questions for coach.

There may be a player or 2 that may transfer to Missoula. They need some D1 talent to get things started out. I am very interested to see how this roster plays out.
It would be preferred, on the GrizFan Pod cast, coach Gore said they would be looking to add players from the spring portal.

I finally ran into Coach Gore in town and told him I’m a big supporter of the soccer team. He was really funny and spoke very highly of the group.

He mentioned he’s spoken with Jo and Cate and that they’re all in. He also said Lucie Rokos has been incredible for him both on and off the field.
Forgive me but who are Jo and Cate?

Jo and Cate were both named to the Fall 2025 High School All-American West Team roster for the All-American game played in December 2025 in Charleston, SC. Named as Montana commits - teammates for this game with several players committed to Power 5 schools.
