Jersey Patches & Revenue

The NCAA voted/approved another revenue stream when they approved patches for uniforms in a move that could generate millions to fund athletic departments that are looking for new ways to generate revenue and pay players. Beginning Aug. 1, 2026, Division I teams can place up to two patches of no more than 4 square inches on uniforms for regular-season games. Those are in addition to the logos already allowed for the uniform manufacturers. Patches are also allowed on apparel and one additional commercial logo on equipment during the preseason and regular season, with an additional commercial logo on uniforms and apparel for conference championships.

Has there been any update on what the UM is doing or what the BSC is doing? If done right could be a big opportunity.

Here is an example on what UNLV is doing. The University of Wyoming also has deal in place which the school will announce at the end of March.

I've already said this a couple of times but the Big Sky commissioner is currently trying to get a conference wide jersey patch deal for all sports. He's been given a deadline of end of February to try and secure a deal and if he can't then the schools at that time will be allowed to pursue their own deals. You should hear something soon.
Have there been any updates on this progress?? What is UM back up plan if the BSC can't get a deal done that benefits UM.

I saw this the other day: the job of the AD is like a CEO in a company, their job is to advance the athletic department/company and separate it self from their competition. Why would an AD/CEO agree to revenue that is split evenly and benefits its competition.

I have no idea what became of this, but I'm sure the AD has been notified either way and I'm sure they're working on it. No need to get so worked up about it.

To be fair, getting worked up seems to be MGS's default. The more curious question is why does MGS keep bringing their concerns here like eGriz is the place to get things done. Haslem's work email is public knowledge, is it not?

In a recent interview BSC Commish said he couldn't get a deal done so its up the schools to find sponsors/revenue which is a good thing. Will be interesting to see how MSU and UM separate themselves with sponsors and revenue generation.

I've heard there's a good number of businesses interested in the opportunity with UM and that Haslam was going to try and find one company that would be willing to sponsor all sports. If that doesn't happen then they will look at multiple different companies for different sports.

That comes off a little bit as taking the lazy approach instead of maximizing the value of each team.

No, but we could take a pretty good guess.
Not we, maybe you and others but I am by no means an expert on good guessing about the value of each teams marketable value. Im pretty certain though that some of the teams could bring some pretty high bids individually and multiple business could be involved instead of one blanket bid by one company.

University Wyoming is set to announce a five-year jersey patch deal worth $4.5M with energy infrastructure company Tallgrass. They are also looking to getting naming right money for football and basketball arena.

So about 900k a year. That should help, depending on what the competition is getting.
Wyoming AD has also been very public on wanting naming rights for the football, basketball and soccer fields to generate more revenue for sports. Like wise, Boise State AD has been very public on courting Albertsons, Micron for jersey patches and naming rights. New world sports live in.
