Soccer Citowicki leaving for Wazzu?

What’s sad is that GSU and UM use to be comparable back in the early 2000s and back but GSU has grown while we’ve stayed stagnant.
Couple years ago UM had the opportunity to hire a GSU guy but turned him down saying he was overqualified.
While not realistic at UM still nice seeing the women's side of sports being taken care off.https://wmubroncos.com/news/2026/2/26/general-wmu-announces-significant-fundraising-milestone-for-soccer-programs-and-new-improvements-to-wmu-soccer-complex.aspx.

GSU and the Griz were not the same. GSU started their football program in '82 with every intention to reach the FBS. Montana, since 1948, has not wanted to compete at the highest level of athletics. Leaving the old PCC, this was their statement and it seems to hold true today.

"keep intercollegiate athletics properly subordinated to the academic function" and they would "seek to develop competition in all sports with institutions similar in purpose, size, resources and academic standing."

My comparison is strictly looking at financials, Southern and UM budgets weren’t to dissimilar in 90’s/ early 2000’s. Since 2010’s they have continued to grow while UM has decided the status quo is good enough.

Also fundraising in the south is way different than here, sports are a religion down there.

Theres also a LOT more competition. In Georgia alone there are 7 D1 schools, 11 D2, 8 D3, and 12 NAIA. Im not positive they all have football teams but thats 38 schools competing for funding.

Griz pays their soccer coaches more than Georgia Southern and has a higher soccer operating budget. You all must be talking football....

What you have heard is on an anonymous forum. Do I think we could use an upgraded locker room - yes, would be nice, but it's not as bad as this forum makes it seem. There is so much exaggeration and over-dramatizing here and people even just posting false info like who the next assistant is when in fact they have no idea. Don't just make some claim that it "doesn't meet current code." Very few buildings "meet current code"and most likely the main issue is meeting current ADA codes. But those ADA codes are for new construction - or if the university improves the building, then they need to bring it up to code and I belive it would be wise to bring them up to current code. But it doesn't mean the building should be condemned. Give me a break.
Agree with all the recent post - if everyone wants all these things, start donating some damn money. Last I heard Cito was paying the alumni group to show up for the 30th anniversary. The soccer community has been horrible in their financial support, so pony up. You know a good time - the BIG GIVE deal coming up on March 5th. https://www.umt.edu/news/2025/02/022625give.php

This site, ImYouthSoccer, which is a reputable account that tracks D1 commitments on X & Instagram, show two new class of 2026 recruits going to Montana. No updates on UM social media of course.
This player is from Oregon powerhouse Jesuit HS, same as Lucy Rokos. Maybe she’s doing some of the recruiting 😆
Lucy Rokos may have been doing previous recruiting as another player from her Jesuit High School in Portland committed to the Griz earlier and signed last November.

Check out this roster for the Girls High School All-American Game played last December. Scroll down to the West team for two players committed to Montana - one from Oregon and one from Nevada - named along with commits to some Power 5 schools. Good recruiting by Chris - and they apparently stayed with plans to compete in Missoula.

Note of interest: Gonzaga is leaving the West Coast Conference, and Boise State is leaving the Mountain West Conference. Both will become members of the newly realigned Pac-12 Conference on July 1, 2026.

Supposedly from Kent's letter the women's soccer looker is getting updated, we just need for them to release the renderings like they did for the basketball/volleyball renovations.

She plays for Thorns Academy which is a feeder program for Montana. Jay has had a relationship with the program for a few years. I would doubt Lucie even knew who she was.
