BOTH Brawl Round 2!

Yeah, we suck at basketball 🏀 and football, but our checkers and chess team plus our virtual sports' virtual student-athletes are kickin' a$$ and taking names, dammit : ) !!!
 
With the Cats down two of their starters to injuries, I thought the Griiz would win this one. I give Matt Logie credit. The guy is an outstanding coach. He has everyone stepping up and contributing.
 
Geez, The difference in the game is pretty much the first 3 minutes of the second half and you all think the Griz suck. Geez. None of you are a Griz fan.

The Griz don’t suck. They are a good team. But, the Cats outplayed them tonight. It resulted in the Cats winning the Brawl of the Wild competition for the 10th straight year.

I don't know. Griz beat MSU both times last year, and 2 out 3 three times the year before. But I guess you can think it is an issue with this athletic department.
 
The GRIZ aren't a bad team.
Unfortunately, they're not cohesive and inconsistent on both ends of the court.

The lack of true rebounding and paint presence defense front court players hasn't nor won't be overcome this season.

The only way way the GRIZ go dancing this season is less turnovers and outscoring opponents.

If I'm DeCuire, I go away from a short rotation. I go more pressure and depth.
Depth will be stronger if Anderson and Betts return this season. Our personnel isn't suited for DeCuire"s normal 7 man rotation. Running teams into the dirt might be their best option this season.

As is, I don't see this team having it consistently to get through the conference tournament.
 
In my opinion, Decuire whiffed in a major way in getting a PG this season. Kai was a pleasant surprise last year but Kepley and Isaac have been brutal at times. Sure, Kepleys defense is alright but his offensive game is not D1 quality, and Isaak just seems to be regressing. As the season goes, when we get in a hole it turns into Money time and he runs the point. At this point just stick with that. I was hoping to see what Courtney Anderson would bring to the table but when he had a decent game he went right into a boot and has been on the bench ever since. I don’t know if CA can even run the point. Oh, and Hicks needs more minutes. 8 rebounds tonight (led the team)……as a guard. Dude plays hard.
 
I just can't believe how poor the talent in the league has become. Tonight's game was such a slog and was so boring, I started thinking of players over the last 10 years that would be better and more fun to watch than ANYONE in the conference currently. I came up with 73 players before I got bored of that, too, but I could've kept going for awhile.

Men's D1 basketball is just a bad product. They need to go to quarters. For those that think the portal has ruined other sports, hoops is No. 1 by a country mile.

And it shows. The number of people consuming our men's basketball content has never been lower. Women's golf out-paces men's hoops, let along football and women's basketball. It's stunning and sad.

Had this exact conversation with my gf at the game. She asked, why aren't teams more consistent and not very cohesive? I told her, it's a crap shoot every year for most teams. Some years, chemistry is terrific. Others not so much. Teams can't be replacing 5+ players every year.

I added, the GRIZ are lucky, there's not truly a dominant Big Sky team this year.

Only could watch the women Griz, Yikes!! another blowout to the cats. They can beat average and below teams at times but lack of athleticism was evident again. Team has been out-coached, out recruited. Griz only scored 7 points in the first quarter which didn't help. The zone only works for a short time, a good coach has a zone offense, which the cats had.

The AD Dept needs to go, new blood, they let good coaches go, hire inexperienced coaches and expect to win championships.
