BOTH Brawl Round 2!

Looking through the lens of not having the personnel to run the scheme against top flight competition.
Can be said about any basketball scheme known. However, the 5 Out is designed to create mismatches when you have mobile forwards who can handle the rock and shoot the 3 and guards who can handle and shoot and you lack a back to the basket big. It allows all five players to dribble penetrate and shoot. It requires all five players to move with and without the basketball and requires all five players to be on the same page.

I think Coach Harris needs to build more into the offense. There's a lot more ball screen and off ball screen action that can happen within the 5 out offense. It just seems that the LG are too stagnant for my liking at times. I'm really liking what Niko Medved is doing with the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the 5 out offense. Niko formerly coached at Colorado State. I really like the triple drag screen action that Niko Medved uses to set up 1v1 action.

Yes, but if they get a lot of open 3 point shots and still average less than 30% of those?

Personally, I am not against the 5 out. It's just that he should have taken the offense we used last year and then kind of incorporated the 5 out into it slowly.

I am also curious on Harris' history with the 5 out offense and the assistant coaches history or knowledge of it. Unless NAU or MSU used it at all, Assistant coach Leia Beatty wouldn't have had any history with it.

Gotta be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of hiring Harris based on his tournament run. And nothing the ladies have done since has dispelled me of that.

They look frustratingly bad and disorganized a huge % of the time.

He’s going to have to show marked improvement next season or he’s going to be in trouble.

Cats play an almost perfect first half. 7/10 from 3 and only 2 turnovers.

I dont think we can do that n the 2nd half. I think um pulls away.

We’ve only had a chance to see three players in next year’s class so far.
The Napavine kid is definitely under the radar. When we watched her this summer, she showed some ability to handle and shoot it. The question is translation — coming from the smallest classification in Washington, does that production carry over to the D1 level?
We know a little about DeCoite. She’s never really struck us as a knockdown shooter, but she’s a hard worker, brings good energy, and competes defensively. The big question is fit. In a true 5-out system, you have to create gravity with your shooting. Does her skill set translate in that structure? Coaches we’ve talked to think both may be long shots — and that’s not shade at the kids, just an honest evaluation of fit and projection.
The Billings Central kid can flat-out play — that much we know. It’ll be interesting to see how Harris evolves the offense. There’s a lot you can do with 5-out spacing, especially if you have the right personnel.
Another big question: who are they bringing in to anchor the interior defensively? And how does that piece align with a 5-out approach on offense?
It’s shaping up to be a very interesting offseason — who’s asked to move on, who leaves on their own, and who they ultimately bring in.

Not good enough. Aguino has been lost on defense all night. Thompson and Money with some very boneheaded plays to put themselves in foul trouble.
