We just need a coach we need to start recruiting for the current and future. Only had 2 verbals from the 2027 class and I am not sure if they went to WSU or reopened their recruiting

No way to know how positive the interaction was between Davy and the AD. If it was an immediate turn down, word could be out by now.

Davy had to have responded to the posted job after doing some due diligence, and he was interested enough to fly to Montana.

Plus talk to his team and assistant coaches. Does anyone know what salaries there offering for assistant coaches. That maybe factor as well if accepts. If HC is 80-100 can’t see them offering more than 50k is that even doable moving to Missoula.

You’re right about the asst position it’s in the $40-50k range base pay.

Again, $80-100k is base salary. Total comp has been over $140k. According to public records in 2024 Ashley was $41k base salary (make more from camps and coaching club soccer) and J was $46k. Most D1 assistant coaches also coach club soccer on the side to make a living. The Griz coaches will all be offered spots a Rush I assume based on the past relationship there. My guess is J stays on for the next year. (For reference- 2024 salaries Softball HC $80k. Tennis $58k. Volleyball $71k. Lady Griz BB $88k.)

It’s been mentioned over and over again your not getting an experienced HC to move across the country for 80-100k base pay with a 1-2 year contract and with paying rent of 30k per year.

100%!! There’s a lot of staff that live in subsidized school housing or in the case of some of the asst coaches they live in a house with 3 or 4 roommates.

It does not matter, it’s obvious the pay and contract length are an issue, 3 coaches, turned the job down that doesn’t happen. Word is out among coaches that the AD is not easy to work for.

I actually think the state of the roster is more of a turnoff to coaches than Salary. Contract length plays into this as well.

Call BS on that. The remaining girls plus the 2026 are all highly rated ECNL and top Draw Soccer/prep soccer ranked players. Give the job to J so they finish recruiting. Brining another candidate on campus next will end in same result
