Well it sounds like you have a good understanding of the inner workings. And yes Engstrom was low bar for sure. From the outside it at least appeared that Bodnar was a decent president.
What quality do you think is most important for the next prez? Strong financial background? More of a developer…builder of worlds?
Good question. Strong understanding of how Universities work (research, teaching, athletics, politics, tech transfer, etc). Ability to understand numbers and be fiscally responsible. Ability to lead a vision. Ability to interact with the public and fundraise. Ability to make the hard decision. Ability to delegate and manage people.
Hard to find someone who has all - I get that. So it is up to the Commissioner and Regents to decide on priorities.
Either preferring one who can build inward to create the best product, or one who can build outward and raise the most money. Either answer is correct. Just preference. Seth was good at the outward. My focus is on the inward, which is the cause of my analysis, which is probably too harsh.
