Shafer hit vs Harper hit

This. I mean Shafer took Brody Grebe out at the knees with a low block in last year's brawl. Luckily it wasn't serious and he was able to come back in. I don't recall any Cat fans wishing injury on Shafer. There's something seriously wrong with this dude.
It probably wasn't a dirty play, not like the ones by your guys in the Cat game.

Are there examples of when a play similar to this was flagged at any time in the past? I sure can't think of any.
Last season Ohio State linebacker Ariel Reese was called for targeting and ejected for a similar hit on Nebraska wide receiver Jamal Banks. The ruling was targeting 15 yard penalty and ejection but it should have been unnecessary roughness instead of targeting because it was not helmet to helmet.

The way this hit happened, it is not specifically mentioned as illegal like targeting. It is up to the officials to determine whether the hit qualifies as unnecessary roughness or not. In my opinion it could have been ruled a dirty hit and unnecessary roughness due to how Shafer was still catching the ball and not looking forward towards the defender.
I have only said it was dirty play. Not that it should have been flagged. There's a difference.

I agree.....he's a hell of a player. Was a great blocker in the run game and a weapon in the pass game.

But it wasn't a dirty play. He's 6-5, 270 lbs, Our safety is maybe 200lbs soaking wet. He has to tackle low, that the only way he can make a play. It was just unfortunate how it worked out. Just like the Harper play....he wasn't trying to head hunt, that's just how the play worked out.

Going low isn't against the rules.....thus didn't get flagged.
Going low is flagged on a chop block…not much of a difference.

Blind or purposely ignorant?

Weak assed tackle from a pussy defender is what it was. Not malicious though, so he's got that goin for him.
I agree. It is not a snap decision to go at the knee from 2/3 side in that situation. Defender intentionally went there. He had plenty of time to make the contact where he wanted to make it. Not saying he was trying to cause injury.

Wow. Can I get a show of hands for all you griz that support this guy? I imagine the responses I’ll get are from his other accounts he has here in order to agree with himself.
I listened to the Akem podcast with Keenan Curran. I was glad to hear they agreed that Petre's options were pretty limited and there was nothing dirty about the hit.

So you’re not saying he was trying to cause injury but you’re wishing injury on him? That makes it even worse.

I’ve been around this rivalry for many years. I strongly dislike all things griz. But I’ve never wished injury on a young man playing the game at UM and never would. I think you need to step back and take a break from being a douche for a while. Your posts are getting worse by the minute.

I think the Shafer hit should also have been unnecessary roughness, not targeting or not called at all.

That wasn’t a low hit at all, and the NCAA actually rescinded the penalty and said the Big Ten officials got it wrong.

Why are there so many Cat fans here? You are a week away from playing in the championship and you are spending your time on a Griz football message board, what is wrong with you? If there wasn’t already proof that the Griz are living rent free in their head, look at all the Cats who would rather be on a Griz football page when the Cats are coming up on playing for the championship. If right now you would still rather read about the Griz than your own team that is never going to change.

My man, that "literally" is his knee. Not his thigh. The hit is a good 9 inches below the thigh.

That said, I don't think it was malicious. The defensive player is just a bit of a pussy for the way he tackles.
Did the head/helmet of the defender hit the knee first and then slide to the side a bit?
