87 and 95 yards. Is it an ineffective defensive scheme or a lack of team speed?
They were from coverage busts at critical moments. Saying it is from scheme or speed only is lazy. In the case of the Goering catch Montana has just been stuffed on fourth and goal. On the very next snap SDSU came out in a play they had confidence in, a shot pass off play action that hit a linebacker in his eyes in the wrong place and a receiver who made a great play after the catch. Montana's defenders bounced off each other in coverage and lost leverage on the route, which let Goering slip into open grass, the defender nearest home lost the angle and couldn't rally to make the tackle, so what would have been a 10-15 yard gain turned into a 95 yard score. The scheme and leverage put our guys in tough spots. Montana's defense had some struggles getting proper cushion and fit on horizontal and crossing routes.87 and 95 yards. We were doing that and giving up 3rd and 20s with bad and busted coverage in our 15th game of the season. Sounds like a scheme and coaching issue.I believe it was the result of some defenders running into one another
I think it is an execution issue, starting with our defensive line being dented due to being outsized which puts the linebackers and secondary in poor position. I think poor strength and conditioning/lack of player development up front is the root issue. We were doing that and giving up 3rd and 20s with bad and busted coverage in our 15th game of the season. So giving up the longest TD pass (95 yards) and the 4th (87) is somehow better?Once again a bullshit post. Jesus do a 5 minute google search before you post. Even in FCS just look at Ty Pennington threw an 88 yard pass vs Southern Utah and Tommy Rittenshouse from Illinois St had a 93 yarder vs UC Davus in playoffs.

They are neither the first or 4th. Look at chart. I don't know FCS longest plays but those are two I remembered so I looked them up. I am saying if you are going to use stats don't make shit up.So giving up the longest TD pass (95 yards) amd the 4th (87) is somehow better?
I mean using those stats both are still in the top 15 in longest pass TDs given up when compared to FBS schools and from what we know from the FCS info you've shared we would have given up the 1st and 4th longest. Exaggeration on his part doesn't change the fact that it's a club that we do not want to belong to and bare minimum based on the knowledge that you've shared/we have as of now we have 2 in the top 5 at the FCS level. They are neither the first or 4th. I only harp on the scheme because we have been told repeatedly it is difficult to learn, seems to rely on a unicorn at NT with lock down CBs and dependent on LBs generating pressure. Poor coaching is when we're still taking bad angles, getting sucked in off the edge and busting coverages in the 15th game of the season.Who cares where they are on all time plays? They were big plays the Griz gave up and it is a lazy take to say it is just from scheme or speed instead looking into why the players are slower, smaller and not executing as well. It all comes back to strength and conditioning. I think it is worth looking into other defensive schemes. I wrote a post previously on why the 4-2-5 would be beneficial but ultimately I think strength and conditioning is a far bigger issue than the scheme.
Yes but two separate plays. No not something to be proud or hang your hat on. Mason hit receiver right in stride and DB took a bad angle and fell. Griz defense played really well after that. The one vs the Cats was really on a scramble drill and Lamson made a great play but it was total breakdown and really ended the game. I think the Griz secondary when healthy was pretty good but young. Still were 2nd in FCS in interceptions.I mean using those stats both are still in the top 15 in longest pass TDs given up when compared to FBS schools and from what we know from the FCS info you've shared we would have given up the 1st and 4th longest. Some funny stuff trying to defend the defense giving up big plays. Montana owns the list for the most big plats given up. Here's some more:Once again a bullshit post. I am pretty sure Oklahoma has the record for the most big plats given up from the land rush in 1889. Montana’s population is too small to hold the record for plats given up of any size. Some funny stuff trying to defend the defense giving up big plays. I'm pretty sure the Montana D would have at least 5 in the top 25 in 2025.I am pretty sure Oklahoma has the record for the most big plats given up from the land rush in 1889. Montana’s population is too small to hold the record for plats given up of any size.
I wouldn't rely on you for anything. You have no clue and don't even know how to Google.I'm pretty sure the Montana D would have at least 5 in the top 25 in 2025.
