Obviously the hope would be Eli stays for another year and breaks all the records and then is a late a round nfl draft pick. Not a more deserving kid. But I have a really tough time analyzing him. He runs a really unique way that i think makes him look a little bit slower than he is. I obviously hope he is an NFL draft pick but i also just don’t know if he is an nfl caliber back just based off the eye test. that being said i do think that he could be a pretty damn good CFL player if the nfl is just a step above where he is athletically. Hoping to hear what other people think. I also really hope we let him turn into bell cow and break the season records too, obviously you don’t wanna over run a kid but i’d like to see him get another 4 carries a game in his final year.

Eli’s patience makes me impatient. There are times I want to reach thru the tv and throw him down field 10 yards. It does make him look slow but when I see him get the edge, he is not slow and typically pulls away from pursuers. The dude has great balance and takes a freight train to knock him off his feet.

He reminds me of an FCS saquon

He’s a patient zone running back. He’s not just going to plow into linemen with his head down. He actually reminds me a bit of Leveon Bell and Chris Johnson. Think he has a good chance at the next level. Would help getting in the right system. Great vision and explosiveness.
How does he remind you of Chris Johnson?
Johnson was one of the fastest players in NFL history.

Love Gilman but he is not a top end burner in the way Johnson was at all.

Patience and explosiveness through the hole. Definitely not on the top end speed, but running styles are similar.

He has no chance of being an NFL back. So funny.

People love to rip on egriz, I typically come in piece, however, this is a dumb topic. Eli is easily the best FCS back there was/is this past season. He’s a patient runner, they can get outside of the quagmire of the belly bumpers, and when getting to the edge he’s always pushing diagonally, not straight side to side. Only time he gets negative yardage is when there is not a single back in FBS or the NFL who would make a positive gain.

On top of that, to hell with ‘from Montana’ players, when you have a guy like him who has become a local to the community and a student athlete leader to the state.

He will go NFL, I imagine a late round draft pick and there is no way he doesn’t become a #2 or part of a one two punch in the NFL around year 2-3.

He's got the size and stats. He'll definitely get a shot, and I would expect at least a free agent signing. I think it's just hard for a FCS RB to make it.
