Griz Fan Podcast - The end of the 2025 season

Mike, Luke (virtually), Kyle, James, and I got together yesterday to talk it out - this episode focuses largely on the semi final loss with some projection forward and talk about where things are at for the Grizzlies. We are planning a 2nd pod in the weeks ahead that we're currently calling the "autopsy" pod where we'll do a higher level look on 2025 as a whole and our thoughts moving forward.

We had a lot of fan questions and it's been determined that the reason for the cats surpassing the Griz is all my fault as well, so good news guys, we've figured it out.

Wow. You guys are out of touch. The QB club is arguably one of the issues. Think about you guys saying that when we lost our freshman receiver, we were in trouble. Why don't you ask why a freshman receiver was so significant to our offense? Wouldn't you anticipate the crowd noise and plan for it? You again didn't answer the first question about being reflective. Schmidt's pod is so much more on point than you guys.

Thanks for all you do guys appreciate you answering my question.

You guys encouraged people to join the QB club, then said it's basically a good-old-boys club. Can you tell us specifically, not in general terms, where the $1000 that a person spends to join the QB club goes?

It’s literally detailed right on the QB club page.

What is my gift used for?

QB Club gifts go directly into Coach Hauck’s discretionary fund, where he is able to use it for the areas of greatest need. Areas include:

  • Summer School – allowing our team to spend the summer in Missoula training and growing as a team.
  • Player Nutrition – giving our guys the fuel necessary to maximize their training.
  • Recruiting – looking for the next impactful addition to our program and having the flexibility with our recruiting budget makes all the difference.
  • Capital projects – improving facilities that will directly impact the football program.

What is NIL – Licensing (Revenue Sharing)?

Beginning in July 2025, universities may directly share a portion of athletic department revenue with student-athletes. This marks an important evolution in college sports, and Montana is committed to creating a sustainable, student-athlete-centered future.

Revenue sharing builds on what we already have and creates opportunities to achieve even more. With your support, Montana can remain at the forefront.

Funds help cover nutrition and summer classes so the entire can remain in Missoula for lifting sessions and PRP’s.

I might change my signature line to:
"Mony Mony slaps" - Kyle Sample. 😆

I'm just a short ways in but great pod so far. And I agree with Kyle's wife/girlfriend/paramour? I have a buddy that does the Cat Claws after first down and I roll my eyes. Its cool for those of the female persuasion to do it. But I get how she would think a guy is unfuckable if he does it.

Thanks, Brint. I know what's on the website, that's why I said "specifically" how the funds are spent. How much of it goes to what? How much of the money goes to recruiting Montana kids? You guys even state that the coaches appear not be recruiting Montana with the same vigor as MSU. What capital projects have been done? Where is the master plan like MSU has put out? Why would we spend more money to have players take courses in the summer? If they want to play, they stay. If you listen to Schimit's podcast from a few weeks back, you hear how poor the nutrition program is at Montana. Again, talk about the specifics. If you don't know, get someone on the pod who does and can speak about them. As you guys said, let this asskicking motivate you to challenge what's happening in the program so it doesn't continue.

You mean the U doesn’t give all box dwellers an itemized list at the end of the year? I’m just shocked.

Interesting talk about the in-state recruitment and response from an out of state parent. One thing that I think is so important about in-state recruiting is crossover to the casual fans and even the general public. I mean at one point Junior Bergen and Tommy Mellot weren’t just well-known among football fans, but they were probably two of the most famous people in the state of Montana.

And both were committed to MSU.

I don't think Schmidt said the nutrition program was poor, he talked about other D-1 programs (like Alabama) and the nutrition programs they have and how they are able to track what they're eating. He literally compared bringing our nutritional program up to the same level as a fucking top-tier FBS school that has a multi-million dollar budget. Yes, I think we all would love that...are there some things the University could do to better the program? Of course! Does it cost money! Absofuckinglutely. Funny how he didn't happen to mention anything about any other COMPARABLE University's nutrition program (like, oh I dunno, the scats).

Actually, he mentioned that when players at UM finished practice, there were no food options available on campus. Funny how you didn't mention that is what he said.
